Rolling Back My Main & Backup Witness Servers to v0.16.x & Thanks to @abit for Being AWESOME.

Massive shout out to @ebryans for hooking me up with some reading material and different perspective on the whole HF17 fiasco we seem to be facing here on our STEEM network.

With the next hardfork scheduled roughly 4 days from now the general consensus between most witnesses and users here on our STEEM network seems to be that unless changes are made to HF17 (STEEM v0.17.0) we are unlikely to see the adoption needed among witnesses for it to pass. Briefly I'd run v0.17.0 on my main witness server but after doing some further reading and a bit of my own research I begun to realize a terrible mistake had been made.

While some of the proposed changes in HF17 in my opinion such as the removal of the > 4 active post penalty and the removal of the comment nesting limit are amazing features.. Unfortunately the positives don't out weight the negatives after further diving into it.

Thank you to @abit for his Kindness

Earlier today I was feeling kind of crappy after I'd been voted out by @abit in order to keep @smooth in his top 19 spot. In an incredible act of compassion and caring he's disabled his witness and voted my witness back into the top 19 to fill his spot. I never expected this!

This show of heart nearly brought me to tears to be honest. Perhaps in part caused by the frustrations of the day but ultimately because a man on the other side of the world decided that me being in the top 19 was more important than him sitting in the coveted spot.

You often hear in the west about generous people who would give you the shirt off their backs in order to keep you warm and in essence this is what @abit has done for me. <3 <3 <3

Some faith in humanity was restored in me today. @abit is a great man, we need more people like him around here to be honest. Thanks again for renewing my faith in people's caring.

While there are some valid issues/concerns about HF17, these ones are not it (IMO). Users are already allowed to post as much as they want.

The limit is in the amount they can get paid (starts to scale down after 4). The community can deal with excessive posting by just not voting for people who post too much, or downvoting if it becomes abused by sock-puppets/self-voting.

We need to get rid of the 6 post comment limit. It is one of the more annoying parts of the platform. How many times have you had to split up your conversations across a whole bunch of places, because of this limit. Why would we not want to remove it?? Comment spam? There is nothing preventing users from doing this already - they can just reply a whole bunch of times to the root post.

Any chance you could point me in the direction of some of the material regarding HF 17?
I have been keeping up to date with most Steemit resources on it but something more in depth or different would be great!

Kyle what is the meaning ??? Please explain in short word. Thank you! :)

Basically @abit sacrificed his top 19 position so I could have it.

Amazing display of selflessness. Not sure how many witnesses would give up their spots to let up and comers like myself in.

okay! I trust you, just listen your heart and "cool mind". I believe you find good decision. Nice ! :)

A number of the proposed changes in STEEM v0.17.0 I don't entirely agree with so I'm not going to upgrade until they iron out a few kinks and get a better consensus of what is wanted by the community and witnesses.

Thanks for the awesome witness spirit shown for the blockchain! :)

Can you go into more detail about what concerns you? From reading @ebryans post it seems like it's mainly concerns about "bad whales" using the rewards sharing, SP delegation, and comment rewards pool changes to sneakily drain the rewards pool. I really think the fears are overblown and am in line with your earlier position to move forward.
Granted I don't follow some of the deeper discussions, github, etc. So I'd love to hear some good plain English summary!
Thanks and congrats on 19.

Keep up the good work on steemit! Thank you!

@abit I have headed your kindness plea, you are an amazing person and earned my respect even more by engaging in selfless acts like this and the experiment, thank you for being part of the community!
