Drakos Witness Update 17-07-2017
Hello my friends. Things are looking good so far. My witness and seed nodes (both located in Germany, but with different providers) are up and running smoothly. Here's a quick update after two weeks of my witness experience.
- The witness node is generating 1 block/day. Nothing too fancy for now but clearly not enough to cover the expenses. Nevertheless, I'm confident I'll get there with more support and witness votes.
- I added a fail-safe to notify me in case an error occurs on the witness, gives me time to react. Thanks to @lukestokes for his awesome script.
- My followers are increasing steadily and I got 456 so far, a magical number. I hope to reach 500 in a few days ☺️
- My reputation has increased to 52 today, I'm quite satisfied with that.
- I helped a few people join the MSP lately. I'm a bit disappointed that I couldn't dedicate more time there lately. Increasing my witness status and rank has been my priority. Once I achieve a higher rank, I'll have more time to allocate for the MSP. At the moment I'm at position 88 of the witness ranks, but I'll need more support to be in the top 50 at least, to have a better contribution. Also, the witness rewards are proportional to rank: a higher rank earns more SP, which will help me finance and expand my nodes for a more solid structure.
- I continue to spend most of my time in the https://steemit.chat/channel/witness channel, assisting new witnesses and making new friends at the same time. Also, hanging out in that channel allows me learn more from experienced witnesses, in particular @timcliff and @someguy123. These guys are #1 in my book for their help and patience. There are of course many others, the list would be too long to acknowledge, but they know who they are and I appreciate their input 👍

You can vote for a maximum of 30 witnesses. Witness voting is different from upvoting: it doesn't cost you anything and doesn't affect your voting power. What's important is your Steem Power, the more you have it, the better your vote's weight. Nevertheless, every vote is important to me, whether you're a minnow 🐟, a dolphin 🐬 or a whale 🐳.
Witnesses are the backbone of Steem, they host the blockchain in the background, and I'm happy to be part of that.
