Didn't Bitmin once go over the 51% limit? When another company pulled out of BTC mining? Or was that a movie I saw? :)

And yes, indeed! And some claims that Bitmain owns way more than just 40% It could be more than 70%
But holding more than 51% of the whole network hash power doesn't mean that an attack will occur. As long as the entity holding so much power is not evil...
Also, the nodes allege that they are ready for such an attack.
We'll probably explain that in a more in depth post explaining what types of attacks could occur and how to try to fight them.
