Abit Witness Log 2016-11-05 ~ 2016-11-11

Upgraded to v0.15.0, all went well. Other code review work in progress.

Made some changes on witness voting, primarily due to political reasons (approved @wackou and myself, unapproved @xeldal).

Authors now started to receive some Steem Dollars again after the conversion of my Steem Dollars had completed (another big factor is the pump). I've powered up most of the Steem I got from the conversion and sold a small part.

This week there are a lot of discussions about the economy changes (links are here and here). Generally I'm against rushing things out, so I won't upgrade my nodes to current implementation of the changes in next week. Among those changes, my opinions:

• Reduce inflation to 9.5% a year: ------- Agree
• Reduce SP lock period to 3/6 months: -- Agree
• Reduce top 19 witnesses pay: ----------- Neutral
• Increase backup witness pay: ----------- Agree
• Increase pow miners pay : ------------- Disagree
• Witnesses and miners pay in STEEM rather than Steem Power ------ Neutral, best if there is an option to auto-vest, otherwise there would be more spam transactions
• Votes for witnesses would expire after 3 months ---------- Agree, if proxying doesn't expire, and if a update on voting makes all votes be effective for 3 months
• Reduce the SBD conversion delay from 7 days to 3 (or 3.5) days ------ Agree
• Change POW algorithm to Equihash ---------- Disagree because I think it's a waste of development resources
• No more reward for including a POW transaction in a block ------ Disagree because it encourages witnesses to do something bad
