How Wish.com scams you.

in #wish7 years ago

Wish.com is a legit site, but they scam you kinda. they trick you to believe there products are super cheap.
Here is how they do it.

  1. The seller on wish.com buy stuff super cheap from chines, Vietnam websites.
  2. Start up 2 stores they claim have no connection to each other (one store on ebay, another on wish)
  3. They buy super cheap, sell expensive on ebay and super cheap on wish.com
  4. They give fake high price on ebay, so they can brag about how cheap they are on wish

Here is an example.

Here is a product on wish

as you can see, it used to cost 50 usd but you get it for 4 usd. so its 91% off.

But here is how you can find the real price.

Screenshot the picture, like this. so you only have the image of the product.

now go to google image, and click the camera icon in the search bar.

upload the screenshot from computer

So google will give you all results that have the same picture on there website, but google filter it in order. you get english website first, then asian websites last. Then go to last page of google results. as you can see in the picture under, last page is 9.

now right click and open the website in another tab, so you dont need to reupload image and go to page 9 again.

Look here, it only cost 67.399 VND what is 0.002 USD, and on wish it cost 4$ and they claiming it did cost 50$ by set up fake store other places, like ebay.

Since they claim it did cost 50$, how many can you actually get for that price from the original source factory website?

Since it cost 0.002965556usd, we are gonne say it cost 0.003 instead to make it shorter.

50$ / 0.003$ = 16666 wallets. And as you can see, they have sold over 10K of that wallet on wish.com

So hope you know that you can find the real seller, and save alot money. comeon, just buy one product from there website to see if you actually get it in the mail, I bet you will.

That is a very good example of figuring out scams with reverse image search. Thanks for giving insight on my future fraud encaunters. But I would say that wish.com might not be a part of it.

Wish.com are scammers and crook, see the story for example here (https://essemonreport.wordpress.com/2020/06/08/beware-the-scams-and-tricks-of-wish-com-avoid/): It is really important to spread the word and #boycottwish. Outcome of the dispute is discussed here (https://essemonreport.wordpress.com/2020/06/26/outcome-of-long-wish-com-refund-dispute/) with lessons learned if you decided to buy from wish.com anyway! I hope this helps.
