92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted twice Deep garnet brick. Complex notes of meat, game, dried plum, black olive and dried Mediterranean herbs with a whiff of brett influence giving notes of sweaty saddles and a distinctive medicinal / band-aid character. The palate is nicely structured with a medium+ level of finely grained tannins and a crisp backbone of acidity fleshed out by an ample concentration of evolved fruit flavours. Long finish. The 1991 Opus One is completely different from its predecessors. The style is decidedly rich, voluptuous and opulent for the era. Sweet silky tannins support a creamy, expressive finish in a wine that is very much built on texture. Today the 1991 is showing beautifully. The slightly advancing aromatics suggest it is best enjoyed over the next decade. The 1991 is a racy Opus One long on personality. The blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot. (AG) (6/2013)

K&L Notes
Opus One was founded as a joint venture between Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, and in 1984 released its first vintage, the 1979. It has since become an international success and a landmark Napa Valley winery. Comprising 169 acres of vineyard, they produce a luxury Bordeaux-style blend.

And this is the bottle you are actually buying to score a chance for upgrades:

2016 Moniker Wine Estates Mendocino County Cabernet Sauvignon 750ML for $29/bottle (or $4 for the first bottle for first time buyers!) - 8.35% of the offer, ie 91%+ are UPGRADES!!

Winemaker Notes: Moniker Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant wine showcasing three clones – 4, 337 and 191 – from Ukiah Valley’s finest southwestern exposed sites. From maceration to fermentation, we worked to preserve the wine’s tannic backbone: cold soaking the grapes for two days, pumping over the cap, and briefly leaving some of the lots on the skins for greater extraction. We chose a Languedoc yeast strain prized for delivering optimum fore-mouth volume while retaining varietally correct flavors, then blended in a touch of Petit Verdot for power. French oak’s unique propensity to gather complex flavors over time harmonizes with the secondary tones this Cabernet Sauvignon will develop with age.

Other premium upgrades valued at $30-500/bottle, 91%+ of getting an UPGRADE!!

Good luck if participating!

p/s: Full disclosure, I have a very small investment interest in Underground Cellar via Angelist.

This offer has SOLD OUT!!! Someone got that Opus One!!

I dont understand this. how could you get a 6l bottle for 29$. Thats almost like someone giving away a car

Think of it like a raffle. You buy a base bottle for $29 (which guarantees that you will get at least that bottle (in this case, the Moniker cabernet), but you get a chance of upgrade randomly to other wine bottles, including the top upgrade of the Opus One.

The Company gets access directly with the wineries at much better pricing. The expected value outcome of this offer is $46.17/bottle average (Value x probability). As long as the company can get pricing below that average, they will still come out ahead.

Once, I bought a champagne for $31, and got the top upgrade valued at $750, the 2002 Bollinger RD Extra Brut magnum. Luck of the draw, really.
