The Microsoft calendar provides for the definitive abandonment of Windows 7 in January 2020. Clearly after this time, no security update will be proposed. The OS will be delivered on its own and will join other giant operating systems like Windows XP. Microsoft, however, has already announced a two-year extension but it will not be free.

Windows 7 will not be alone, however, because another Microsoft product also lives its last days. This is the older version of Intune specifically for this version of Windows.

Windows 7 and Intune
Microsoft is recommending users to quickly adopt a new solution like Intune based on Azure. The best though would be to upgrade to Windows 10. The group explains

"The management features of the computers are directly integrated with the Windows 10 operating system. You no longer need to install a client agent such as the Intune Software Client for Windows 7. From Windows 8.1, Microsoft uses the Mobile Device Management (MDM) architecture to configure, update, and manage Windows PCs. "

The date of January 2020 is problematic because it will be impossible for Microsoft to convince all users to switch to Windows 10.

The company is already on the offensive having asked its partners to inform customers of this fateful date for Windows 7.
