Windows 10 now lets you eject a USB drive without making a nuisance

in #windows5 years ago

This Microsoft has moved forward and it allows users to manually eject the device without selecting the eject-button. The default setting for USB drive on USB 10 has been turned off. No worries about getting your USB drive safely out of these days which allow you to safely remove the device without pressing anything in Windows 10. But now the USB drive is automatically set to work with Quick Delete setting.

It was updated prior to October 2018 that these USB drives were the default to be operated with better performance. You can return settings to better performance on the specific USB devices you are using. It is not clear, however, how much performance you actually lose, resulting in slow performance. Cache disk writing cannot be done in this system anymore. However now it is that USB drives are the default for quick removal.

You can then change these removal policies for those specific USB drives. Go to its click properties, hardware, click Properties again, and go to the Policies tab. An easy way to change this is to go to disk management and right-click on the drive you want to change. That's why your USB drive will still be the default in the 'Better Performance' setting and there is no way to change it. Then this new feature will not affect you, if you are not updating Windows 10 October 2018.
