RE: Police Chase Down Window Peeper

in #window6 years ago (edited)

I recommend home owners have different layers when it comes to cameras. You should have hidden perimeter cameras such as game cameras. You should have visible cameras on your exterior of the house. You should include within those entrance cameras on all doorways.

Inside the home you should have hidden nanny type cameras. Then, finally, you should have a wired DVR camera system inside the home. The inside cameras should not be wireless, and they should be separate (nanny to DVR). That separation allows you to more easily retain evidence in the event something bad happens inside your home. You don't even want the police knowing where all those cameras are.

As part of your outside cameras too, I recommend two types simultaneously installed. You should have cameras that work along with your lights in an overt alert response where the predator will know you have detected them. You should also have a thermal or other passive system separate from the first to view your property without letting the predator know you've been alerted.

Keeping some cameras hidden and offline and indepentent (the nanny cams and the game cameras) prevents easy confiscation of those devices by outside forces (government or criminal). It gives you a much higher level of defense in other words. Those seeking to do you harm in your home should know that there will be plenty of evidence of their crimes left over even if you are dead.
