Wildlife - Falcon (Kestrel)

It's time to have a closer look at a well known falcon. The Kestrel is a clever bird, which can do something special. He is flying in the air and then holds like a helicopter. He does so, by swinging his wings in a special manner. He then 'stands' over his target and waits. These birds can do this for some time. They move not a bit, while playing helicopter. If he has tracked his prey, he goes to the ground very fast. While they are ‘standing’ in the air, you can make nice shots of them. The following photo has been taken, while the falcon was in normal flight mode. These birds also watch you, while they fly around you. They are very careful. The bird itself is smaller than a crow. Sometimes both have spectacular dog-fight in the air. I think, they respect each other the same. I've seen a dog-fight with one falcon against four crows. It took about 15 minutes. There was no winner. The crows didn't like the falcon to fly through their territory.
