Death of the last king
I was going through my daily news content and I came across this touching and sad story that the last northern white male rhino is dead leaving two female rhinos-his daughter Najin, 28 and granddaughter Fatu. The rhino lived in a conservancy in Kenya named Ol Pejeta.
The rhino named Sudan has been ill for quite a while and was being treated for age related issues, the vetenary team decided to euthanize him when conditions deteriorated. At age 45 Sudan was considered to be old in rhino years. The last king suffered from low sperm count and could not mount a female leading to his death although his genetic materials has been collected for possible artificial insemination in the future. He was named the most eligible bachelor in the world by dating app Tinder last year.
This is coming seven years after the extinction of the western black rhino as a result of poaching, rhinos are being hunted for their horns which are believed to treat varieties of aliments in Asia. There are still five species of rhinos left and all are under threat of going into extinction from poachers according conservation group 'Save the Rhino'. Rhino horn is becoming poular as treatment for ailments than drugs experts say.
I was going through reactions on this sad tale and came across this response which I would love to share with you.
To destroy is human. It is the only thing we are good at. We destroy everything we come into contact with, and I do mean everything, and we have the nerve to call other things plagues and diseases. We are the biggest blight to ever hit the Earth- Hayden McCall.
You may or may not agree with Hayden's position but the fact that Science has advanced to the extent of identifying endagered species and that some folks still go after these species is baffling. Some poachers feel on top of the world when they are able to kill these animals despite being protected by Wildlife rangers. But at the end of the day the only crime these animals have committed is sharing a planet with us humans.

It really sad that humans are driving animals to extinction, rather than appreciate the beauty in these animals, even efforts to save some rear species have proved abortive. @blessedman939

I disagree with this:
Every being destroy something when eating, since we are the most complex and intelligent species on Earth, our capacity for destruction is higher, but the same can be said for creation.
I think a better phrase would be "to create is human", thanks to technology. Perhaps in the future we will be able to bring back to live some species that are extinct right now.
I guess Hayden got overwhelmed by the moment and could not come to terms that this sub-species is about to go into extinction. I see your point though. Glad to have you on my wall.
