BREAKING: Julian Assange today made an audio recording and responded to questions from the Wikileaks community from inside the Ecuadorean Embassy.

The live stream showed Youmna Naufal on stage talking to Julian on the phone. The interview was for the Free Connected Minds conference in Beirut, Lebanon. Julian talked for about an hour.

Assange just started talking to test the audio. He sounds a bit stuffed up.
Assange: Have to set precedent for proof of life. Can't do balcony appearances all the time.
Assange: Fidel Castro has died. Discussing a current event.
Assange: I still have asylum at the Ecuador embassy in London
Assange: Hillary represents establishment. Her network sticks together power factions in US. She is very close to Saudi Arabia.
Assange: Ecuador cut internet without telling me. Have been reports of pressure on Ecuador. Have not told me when internet will return. Will determine over next few days.
Assange: Asylum status not concern from present government. Some in Ecuador gov have proposed ending asylum.
Assange: Wikileaks not supporting Trump. Would publish documents from either side and not withhold them.

Assange: Hillary unified the establishment. I feel sorry for her because she is tormented by wanting power. Trump was not connected to DC political/intelligence establishment. Media acted in a disgraceful way and had to endorse Clinton.

Assange: No attempt to seek pardon from Trump administration. We had predicted that Trump wouldn't win. People could not admit to pollsters their genuine feelings about voting for Trump. Conformity pressure was much stronger in US than in UK for Brexit.
Assange: Wikileaks publishes true information. We don't just publish an angle.
Assange: There's a lot of people not well informed about computer technology asking about Wikileaks. PGP keys don't prove anything. Concern amongst people is because of my lack of visibility. Its an understandable concern. PGP keys only say the one who controls the keys, controls the keys.
Assange: NYT and Guardian banned from working with Wikileaks for redacting or not publishing all documents in order to benefit them. We initially delegated redaction decisions to papers. If you open the window for people to make censorship decisions, they will exploit that for other reasons. I became hardline on enforcing our contracts. I should have cut off censoring news outlets earlier on.
Assange: Lebanon is a wonderful place. I have a lot of respect for the creativity and perseverance of the Lebanese people.
