Why games are good challenge

The busy crazy summer we had this year is now giving it's place to the cooler season.
Time to get busy writing again! So much catching up to do!

This post was a challenge given to me (mme phil) many months ago by our dear friend @ixindamix .

Video games have been part of our culture for a long time,
everyone has a different story about how they fell in love with gaming,
that's what makes the #whygamesaregoodchallenge so interesting!

It was a hard task to choose only 4 games...

My love for games really started when my dad took me to the arcade for the first time.
The pinball machines, the lights, the action, the fun! Galaga and Ms.Pac-Man...
Still to this day, the arcade is a magical place for me.

Then the Atari2600 came into my life with so many good games like:
Kaboom, Missile Command, Asteroids...
The number one game in my list had to be from the Atari console:

Defender

I loved everything about it, the sound effects,
the background scenery with cityscape at the bottom...
Going through the horizontal screen scroll shooting alien vessels,
saving people from being snatched away to be transformed into aliens too.
It was a cool storyline and a cool game and I really enjoyed it as a kid!

The next two games I chose are from a few years later in my life, on the NES console.

I still remember when the NES first came out (with Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt)
For kids all over, these were most exciting times!
I must add a few honourable mentions that didn't make the list like
The Megaman and Castlevanias, Ninja the Gaiden, the one and only Ice Hockey and of course Side Pocket ;)

The number two goes to:

Super Mario Bros 2

Simply because it was different and unique.
The 4 characters to choose from, just that in itself was cool but there was so many other features that made this game a classic and for me this is easily the best Mario of all. I still play and still enjoy it as much as I did the first time!

Number tri!

Tetris!

My all time favourite game, I'll never get tired of it, Never!
I have to say that I prefer the NES version with all it's simplicity and cool music but he puzzle itself is forever a challenge no matter which version of the game you play. Tetris 4 life :D

The last game of my list is another blast from the past, a playstation1 classic:

Tony Hawk pro skater1

When this game came out it was wild!
A friend of mine went out to buy it the first day and for the unboxing, he invited a gang of friends over to try it. Needless to say that in the following days, we came back for more! I'm not a big fan of sports games but I ended up buying it too a week later... It was that good! There was a runner up for this 4th place, Resident evil (specially nemesis) Equally good, equally amazing, insane amounts of playtime leading to dreams of both railslides and alley zombies!

I welcome everyone to try this challenge and to go back to read the articles of those who have participated in it before! What games have sparked your imagination? What is your top 4?
