Know Your Why

Before you decide to go a step further and start your own internet business, you should first ask yourself the question: "Why?" Why are you starting your business? You probably have the option to continue working in your current job and get a regular paycheck, but you choose to put thousands of hours of blood, sweat and tears to start a job that didn't exist before. You are responsible for extinguishing any fires threatening your business and keeping the entire machine running smoothly. Everyone. Single. Day.

It's not easy to start an internet business from scratch. Not everyone can do this. When you start, you sign up for months of hard work, sleepless nights, and less time with your family. You'd better have good reasons to try this out. You should put your best energy into building and growing. This means you have to stand upside down and work hard for months before you can earn any substantial income.

Your "Why" Shapes Your Business

When you know why you want to start your business, you can answer almost any other vital question to help determine what your business should be like. If you want to run from 9 to 5 to work at home so you can spend more time with your family, you don't want to start a business that requires an office and a group of employees. If you are starting your business because you need to be the master of your own domain, you probably don't want to start a business that requires you to raise venture capital because you will end up with more bosses.
