Doesn't look too under control and the WHO says there might be undetected transmission as some cases don't have clear epidemiological links. Four healthcare workers have also been infected. This is the first Marburg outbreak in the country- first filovirus outbreak even- so they don't have too much experience.

Marburg virus transmits like Ebola and has a very high case fatality rate. The CFR in this outbreak is 89%. Unlike Ebola though there aren't any approved vaccines yet. However fortunately it doesn't spread easily. Its R0 is quite low. But this outbreak is now in Equatorial Guinea's largest city with a port and international airport.

The WHO assesses the risk posed by this outbreak as very high at the national level, high at sub-regional level, moderate at the regional level, and low at the global level.
