Great White Shark Trip / Mergulho com o Tubarão Branco

I took the trip of my dreams to Guadalupe Island off the coast of Mexico to cage dive with the Great White Sharks and it was the best time of my life!

Eu fiz a viagem dos meus sonhos para mergulhar com o Tubarão Branco na Ilha de Guadalupe no México e foi a melhor trip da minha vida.

I got onboard for 5 days in the Horizon vessel (same boat that Discovery Channel did the Shark Week Show). We took one day to arrive in the Island, 3 days diving and 1 day to comeback to shore.

Eu fiquei 5 dias em alto mar a bordo do barco Horizon (o mesmo barco que a Discovery Channel gravou o documentário Shark Week). Levamos um dia para chegar na Ilha, fizemos 3 dias mergulho e levamos um dia para voltar para costa.

The water in Guadalupe was cold 70 degrees Fahrenheit and the visibility was about 100ft.

A água em Guadalupe estava fria 21 graus Celsius e a visibilidade estava por volta de 30 metros.

The ocean was incredibly blue and you can see the sunlight into the deep of the ocean and sharks coming in all directions. It’s was a wonderful view.

A água estava de uma cor espetacular, dava para ver os raios do sol penetrando na imensidão azul do mar e tubarões vindo de todas as direções.

The boat has 2 cages and each cage fits 4 divers. We were in a group of 12 people and everybody had a chance to do enough dives to see the sharks all day long.

O barco tinha duas jaulas e cada uma tinha capacidade para 4 mergulhadores. Nós estávamos em um grupo de 12 pessoas e todos tiveram oportunidades de mergulhar várias vezes e ver tubarões o dia todo.

Some sharks were very curious and came really close. For me this was the best time! One of the sharks swam by our cage and looked at each one of us in the eye! I felt the chills and a lot of adrenaline! The eyes of the shark are dark blue on the outside and the pupil is a long black rectangle, yes a rectangle! As similar to a horse’s eye pupil, but longer.

Alguns tubarões eram mais curiosos e vinham bem perto. Pra mim esses momentos foram os melhores! Um deles nadou em frente a nossa gaiola e olhou cada um de nós dentro dos olhos, eu senti um frio na barriga e ao mesmo tempo muita adrenalina!! Os olhos dos tubarões são azul escuro nas bordas e a pupila é um retângulo, isso mesmo um retângulo! Igual a pupila de um cavalo mas um pouco mais longa e fina.

Another shark breached the surface to get the bait and on the way back to the water hit our cage, we all checked on each other and after we make sure everybody was fine we all started to jump inside the cage, this made our trip even more interesting haha. Um outro tubarão que saltou para fora da água para pegar a isca, na volta bateu o focinho na nossa gaiola, olhamos um pro outro e depois de ver que todos estavam bem começamos pular de alegria, foi demais ! O link para assistir esse vídeo está no final desse post.
