Thanks for the warning. It is like these rather small distilleries are pressed to keep up with the demand, and try to cut some corners (NAS didn't know that abreviation :) to get as much as possible to the market.
It's actually rather when they go from family owned to huge multinational companies that they lose the soul. Look at the few family owned and independent distilleries left, such as Glenfarclas and Springbank: top quality, traditional production, no coloring. You have to pay a bit more for the whisky of course, but it's worth it.
Yes, that might of course do a difference with all the big mergers...
