老挝的居民很多是信佛教的，万象的市区到处可见到寺庙和宝塔，这些古老精美的佛塔以及精湛的浮雕成为了老挝古代文化的宝贵遗产，而最闻名的就是塔鉴，凡事去老挝的总要靠名游览塔鉴，因为塔鉴被视为老挝名胜古迹中的奇迹，是文化的杰作，据说塔鉴下面有佛祖释迦摩尼的佛骨，所以是非常神圣的地方。
