Cool Features On WhatsApp

in #whatsapp3 years ago

WhatsApp is one of the best social media platforms taking over how we communicate.

If you are new to WhatsApp, you may not know some of its hidden features that enhance your experience. Without wasting much of your time, let's look at some five cool features on WhatsApp.

1. Formatting text

Rather than always sending plain text, you can format your text to add some vitality
to the messages you send.

For example, you can bold text using an asterisk like this *bold word*, or italicize word using underscores like this _italicize_.

You can also strike through text using tildes like this ~tildes~. Next time use your best lines for WhatsApp status to test this feature.

2. Making messages disappear

This is a new feature that WhatsApp is rolling out. When you enable it, all messages on the conversations you've selected will disappear after seven days.

To enable this feature, tap on the chat's name or contact at your screen's top, then select "Disappearing Messages" followed by "On."

3. Making a message easier to find later

If you have some messages you'd want to refer to at a later date, you can star them. Such messages could be ones with important article links, addresses, phone numbers, interesting WhatsApp status, or anything you consider important.

To start a message long-press it until you see a star icon appear, tap on it. You'll see a star symbol appearing next to the message. The star makes it easy for you to identify important messages as you scroll.

4. Clean up the storage

As you continue using your phone, its memory will get eaten up by files and photos sent to you by your friends and the ones you send. As memory reduces, the phone will get slower.

You can clean up the WhatsApp memory by going to Settings, then to Storage and Data, followed by Manage Storage. You see a list of your contacts that you can tap on to view more stats.

From here, you'll be able to get rid of large files that take up more space.

5. Muting conversations

When heading to a meeting or into a movie theater, you'd not want those disturbing notifications from WhatsApp groups. Rather than switching off your phone, you can mute the conversations.

If you are an Android user, long press on the chats you want to mute until you see a crossed-out speaker icon, tap on it. If you are an iPhone user, swipe on the conversation to the left, three dots will appear, tap on them, then tap on mute.

Conclusion

WhatsApp has so many features that can enhance its use. The ones mentioned above are just but the tip of the iceberg. You can continue learning more online or ask your friends which cool features of WhatsApp they are using.

WhatsApp allows you to view every message details, hide the last seen status, disable and enable read receipts, not to save videos and photos by default, export conversations, and receive only custom notifications.

You can play with your phone during your free time to learn how to use these features.
