The pump shotgun has been one of the most changed weapons in FortNite. It has changed a lot since the start of the game. First double pumping was the meta. Than they took it away during season three. They added it back in season 4 but it wasn't as prominent once they changed pumps to not killing in one hit the pump wasn't as overpowered. Then they took out double pump entirely at the start of season 5 and buffed SMGs marking the start of the spray meta. Pumps are still useful as your first weapon currently.

Pump shotguns are currently most useful used alongside an SMG or drum-gun. The current meta is to hit with your pump and switch to your high DPS weapon. I think that the damage and all of those stats for the pump are great however I would love them to bring back double shotties.

The pump is also very good because if you are a good builder than the pump is a very useful gun in build battles. Because of it's longer range the pump can get some good hits at any time that you get an opening.
