Steemit Ambassadorship - The Right Kind Of Representation
A lot of different opinions exist on the right way to represent and promote Steemit, methods ranging from organising meet-ups for new intakes with everyone wearing a Steemit shirt, all the way down to plain old standing on the street giving out provisions to the poor in a gesture sponsored by earnings from Steemit.
Promotion And Ambassadorship
Promotion is just one of the many duties of an ambassador. And ambassador is supposed to represent what he stands for. He must portray the goals of the organization he is representing, make decision in support of its interest and do everything in his power to ensure it's continued and successful existence.
Who is a Steemit Ambassador?
Anyone and everyone who has ever received the Steemit approval mail in his mailbox. Anyone who has ever made a post in Steemit. Anyone who has ever spoken about Steemit is an ambassador if Steemit and by definition is expected to perform the duties of an ambassador.
So really, those who give themselves ambassador titles are just hammering on a title we all own by right of being Steemians.
Just yesterday I was at a cyber café, because my mi-fi had run out and I needed to post. I got into the room and saw it filled to the brim. Then the dramatic actor I am walked to the center of the room and said out loud:
Who wants to learn a new way to make money?
Every single head in that room turned towards me and the noise died down instantly. Feeling pleased with myself, I used my best business voice and I said:
Type in your search box " Steemit sign up. Steemit is spelled S. T. E. E. M. I. T
Some thought I was joking or just being a nuisance and they turned back to their work. The few who listened found themselves on the Steemit website.
Incidentally, the first post on the Steemit homepage was @berniesanders post with about $200 on it. Their eyes bulged as I began to explain the workings of Steemit and the potential payout of that particular post. In ten minutes I had over 25 registrations.
So I gave them all a list and told them to put their phone numbers and created a group to put them through when they get approved.
MORAL LESSON
_
You don't need anything elaborate to be a Steemit ambassador. Just by telling your co-workers and friends, you've done half of the job. Take a closer look and notice all the opportunities you've passed up to make someone's life better. Now do something about it.
