Sunday Lunch at an Asian Restaurant with the family
These 2 baskets of "Keropok Udang" in Malaysian means Prawn Crackers. Keropok means Crackers, make from flour cut very thinly before frying and Udang means Prawn or Shrimp.
These are very popular as appetisers and served by Asian Restaurant while waiting for their dishes to be served.
These are sold at Shopping Centre Food Court for A$2.50 - A$2.80 a packet. For buffet plate at the Chinese stall in the Shopping Centre, the customer can select these Prawn Crackers as one of the items.
This dish is another appetiser called the Crispy Chinese Spring Rolls.
Some restaurants do the fillings with just vegetarian ingredients like Carrots, Turnips, fried bean curd and dried shrimps. All these are shredded and cooked soft to be wrapped onside the pastry skin to be deep fried.
Some other restaurants will have ingredients like minced pork, shredded pork, prawns or chicken. Of course then the price of Meat Spring Roll would be different from the Vegetarian Spring Rolls.
This dish comes with sweet chilli sauce.
Will share the rest of the dishes with all in my next post.
