"The Good Whale" is the most TOXIC of whales of all STEEM network

Do whales make Steemit.com a better place?

Absolutely they have to. Although, are you aware of toxic whales in steemit? It's something I'd heard about, yet not come across. Even if you don't quite follow as a newbie you needn't worry. All will come in good time, this is for you steemians new and old to keep moving forwards and up only, in the best way possible. Knowing what to do if coming across the toxic characters on the Steem Social Platform.

BEACH A TOXIC WHALE!

More on how to do this coming up …

When we all come along here at first, we find a few cool things to do. After learning the basics and a few early posts, we soon we learn about "whales". These are supposed to be Steemians who did really invest huge amounts of time and efforts to grow awesome profiles on the network. Like anywhere on the Internet, there are always the trolls, spammers, haters, and even outright paid and funded enemies of the network. Many people here early on, were able to 'power up' a huge amount, whilst as the network grows new users must already fight much harder to grow. Early whales also got there just by buying STEEM on cryptocurrency exchanges and moving it to their own accounts then selecting 'power up' when it was a few cents on the dollar. So, surprise surprise, not all whales are good. Steemit does have some polluting actors.

SHOULD I POWER UP?

You can, you should, I encourage it. More on a moment about that also …

Be careful who you think is a whale. Be careful about rushing to comment or resteem when you just saw a 'whale' post (another Steemit strategy for curation, some call 'whale spotting'). So take your time to comment, upvote, and resteem. You'll get bigger rewards for curation in the end.

MORE EFFORT = MORE STEEM!

Not always. Unfortunately. Some of those whales may have paid, spammed, or conned their way to the top, it happens everywhere and yep, here in decentralized world also. So just don't panic it. No FUD. Take your time, do good, and your community will come to you in the end.

Whales (especially witness ones) make it possible for Steem to be great. Not only operating the network, they are also guardians, keeping an open and fair voice for all on the platform, regardless from what galaxy they hail. Blocking spam and truly offensive or evil content is a community task and also what flagging is for. Some misuse this power to downvote their 'competition'. It's a stupid strategy, and I'm going to show you a much better way.

So, did you ever hear about these toxic whales?

@berniesanders is a toxic whale. This guy has abused the steem network to the maximum with tabloid and brainwashing tactics.

His 'reputation' (score in parenthesis next to his name) is (-18). @berniesanders downvotes (flags) other whales. He makes a bunch of hyped ultra nonsense posts and comments all over steem. It's like they gave computers and Internet to a lunatic asylum and they all got onto steem led by bernie. (oh, yes, he seems to have an army of shits trying to emulate him also). If organised crime on Steem exists, it is @berniesanders. Check out some screenshots, there are funds of huge amounts moving around between a large number of accounts

Where is it all coming from? All over the place. There is really so much going on in Bernie's world. Far too much to write about here.

This is how he's getting such a high vote value and sitting in 'hot' with his toxic nasty trash talking. Many of his posts are having a huge upvote value, because it is all paid votes and he's calling himself 'the good whale'. He's fooling thousands upon thousands of 'minnows' on the steem network to click upvote. Every dirty, cheap, spammy trick in the book - including a trail of thousands of offensive messages and comments to other users. It's like this guy is mining Steem by 'fracking' and dropping bombs in the sea to try and beach the whales.

FULLY ORGANISED

I'm potentially risking my entire profile and reputation on calling upon the wrath of toxic whales. Which would be entertaining to say the least, about as much so as an actual toxic whale washing up at your beach. I don't know the outcome, maybe I'd become stronger than ever imaginable.. it's kind of how I feel right now though. Should I continue building my own power here, if in the end I may just become myself another victim and lose it all? If I'm just a little minnow anyway, it's probably going to be ok whatever I say in this post today. I'd be prepared to work another profile up to power. So I'll see what happens. Also, if I was to be power-flagged, it would suck AND prove my point entirely. Each to their own as this is a free platform, and everyone has a right to free speech.

Bernie has been most lately complaining over clairvoyant and perfectly dedicated Steemian alien-super-hero @haejin for the mere fact THOUSANDS that follow his work and made money doing so, and his readings and analysis of the cryptocurrency markets continue to be spot on. @haejin posts some of the best crypto trading advice on Steemit. Yet all Bernie can do is make a horrible slanderous post full of some ridiculous claims. Then he even calls @ned out, who himself has known to cast a toxic flag or 2 around himself. (Whom apparently doesn't like some other non-steem graphene projects being promoted on steem. Sshhh.

So what to do? Just power up yourself, and go vote the good stuff. That's really all there is to it, being there for the long term. This platform is going to be around for some time, I'll tell you why another day. @haejin gave a perfect response, 9m30s into this, please watch:

@britcoins never believes in an 'eye for an eye' and also believes 'revenge is a dish best served cold'. Do you know the true meaning of these statements? It's a certain way you act or react on Steem, and you can take it forward in your daily life also:

  • Don't get into a comment war, don't try to prove a point on anything you already disagree with. Don't flame, etc. You only damage your own reputation.
  • Always let the other side 'win' even when they are wrong.
  • Don't waste your power on flags, downvotes
  • DO find loads of cool stuff to comment on and Resteem
  • DO go power up, and use it on yourself and the positive community you find yourself in, to upvote and power up more
  • DO make your own stance, promote your point of view, and join other in a conversation about it that can lead to something.
  • Powering up and up-voting your favorite authors is the BEST way to BEACH A TOXIC WHALE. In other words? Ignore toxic players to the maximum. You are here to play your game, and write your rules, after all. So seek quality always.

if we all power up a little extra steem, we can make a difference!

So clearly this is one of those beefs where the real reason for the conflict isn't openly discussed. Can somebody read between the lines here and shed some light on why @britcoins felt it necessary to write this wall of snoot?

There is no beef. Merely an entertaining article where I've had my say on things about what is a toxic whale. Not that they are a bad thing, just something people should be aware of and how to act for their own sakes.

Dude, fellow Steemian, try and look at things this way:

Your profile is your part of the blockchain and it shall be what you make of it.

Don't stress out about others and what others are doing, just do your thing and enjoy the wave man.... we're all here at the very early start of this project, just the other day Steemit had like 1 million transactions!

1 million..... yeah that is double what it had a few months back, but 1 million is a drop in the ocean man, so you and I and everyone here is at the very early stages and we all have a magnificent opportunity to make a future for ourselves and our loved ones here.

Is the glass half full or half empty.... same thing man, it works out to the exact same thing, so just ride this wave man and enjoy this ripper of a ride that we are on here!

Just me thinking out aloud again!

I fully believe STEEM is on its way to $100...regardless of what happens on Steemit.

There is so much going on with development that people are going to be amazed.

2018 will be a huge breakout for STEEM (although as you referenced, 2017 isnt so bad).

Maybe it could happen. I'm here for steem to keep going as it is and build up my profile eventually to have (63) or above rep like you have. Would be very nice to have an upvote from you also as well as jackmiller did to help me get there dude :)

I agree with everything you say @jackmiller, and I'm just thinking aloud also. I'm not worried or stressed about others. I just wanted to write what I felt about toxic whales and how they should be handled (my end conclusion is to ignore them and focus on your own steem power, even buying steem should you need to). Thanks for upvote btw.
