The Whale Experiment - Orca SupportsteemCreated with Sketch.

The Whale experiment has had it's supporters and detractors and though I believe initial communications could have been markedly better, the objective is clear, honourable and being achieved.

Before it began, I was an advocate for a move like this from the whales, i'm so impressed that they made it work. I offered to join with an effort like this and now I understand it, can see it is real and working, I will be supporting the whales by no longer voting for a time or voting with a much reduced stake.

I leave my support open ended simply because there may be new ways the community may benefit from the delegate voting and split reward features. So I will review as we go.

The experiment had no firm definitions or controls (which would be highly difficult to implement anyway) so I shall not be harming the experiment. In fact, if you are an orca and of a mind, why not join me? :)

I'm doing this primarily because when you get to wield influence in Steemit, you learn something truely valuable. What it's like to give and support people doing and saying something you agree with, which makes your world a better place. You directly affect the people and world around you. Also the more decentralised and even the application of Steem, the better Steemit works. If Steemit works, Steem works. If Steem works, well...I leave that to your imagination! :)

As a member a few steps down on the Fish Ladder, I thank you for the effect your decision to join The Experiment will have on me and others in my position. It does feel nice to move the reward amount on a post. At least it did before the pool refillng, but it soon will again I am sure. Much appreciated!

It's my pleasure kenny-crane but it means even more to know that it actually matters to a person, to you. I love rewarding Steem so much, it only makes sense to show as many as possible what it really feels like. That's without even considering the other benefits.

@benjojo, may the Steemit community grow in numbers and in power. Steem On!

Indeed good buddy, indeed!

Hello my dear friend .... how are you

Perhaps I did not dig deeper into programming, coding and currency
But what you understand about the Post is that you want to see help among people here in society
And this I liked a lot ... Perhaps I apologize a lot because I have no news in that
But I love what you write ... I would be happy to have my comment here

I am very well thank you bud. My post is about helping Steemit and Steem by helping the whales who are making more influence available to more people in Steemit. They can then find out how amazing Steem/Steemit/a social economy can be :)

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am very happy to have your comments always!

This experiment is to show the viability of a flatter reward curve on user retention and engagement. The things I am at odds with is that there still needs to be a good incentive in place to hold SP for whales especially. Maybe a flatter reward curve won't curb that incentive too much, but thinking proactively we need to focus on a viable alternative besides curation for large stake holders. I haven't ran across anything like that.

I fully support the experiment and applaud everyone who is involved, especially @smooth and @abit, they have sacrificed the most IMHO and they have taken the initiative which by itself is admirable.

I think it shows more than that....it shows what you can achieve without flattening the reward curve and what may be achieved if you do both! :) There are whales who won't need additional incentives and who will be happy earning post rewards or building other businesses or applications off the Steemchain or within the Steem economy. Even so, there must be other non-curation rewards the community can come up with that are not too expensive.

oh i was lately missing your votes that explains it :)

Lol...you probably got a bunch of others instead!

of course but @benjojo <3 is unique :)

Very touching. I almost abandoned the experiment for you right then...almost.

What it's like to give and support people doing and saying something you agree with, which makes your world a better place. You directly affect the people and world around you.

I fully agree. I actually think it is even the most value add of a community / service like Steemit! To share opinions, to have discussions on different viewpoints, to understand better other opinions, to learn from each other. This will lead to deeper connecting with each other and that will result in a better connected community. The end result will be a more valuable community and as you already pointed out, a higher value of Steem.
