RE: Sharing is Caring - Paintings You Like
Hi gang
It's a trick. Having to choose one artist as my favorite is not fair. My list is very long. The first on that list is the cartoonist:
Mort Drucker. Cartoonist, comic artist, illustrator. Genius.
I met Mort Drucker when I was 10 years old, in the (paper) magazine MAD. An institution when it comes to cartoons. I don't know if he was the boss or the main cartoonist of the magazine.
I looked forward to Mondays every week, when the new issues arrived at the newsstand down the street. I collected them.

Mort Drucker made graphic parodies of the movies of the moment, what impressed me the most were his covers or pages where he drew a gigantic scene of people, scenery, with a level of detail and surprises hidden between the lines and drawings.

His mastery with the line and color fascinated me. No matter what genre the movie was being parodied, he adapted his style to a western, fiction, comedy or drama. You can't imagine how excited I am to talk about his creations.
I found out that he died at the age of 93 in 2021.
Honor to the master.

I can't say I am into MAD and Mort Drucker but I agree there's more than 1 favourite artists and I can't say there's one I like because of all his art (I have the same with muscicians, most film producers and authors.)
Mort Drucker reminds me in a way of the cartooninst Marten Toonder (wonder why) and Bob Morran.
Are yancar and inspiracion into art?
@solperez is and @aneukpineung78 might be.

If comic books considered as works of art, then I am in to it. I also love caricature.

Exactly. My country, Indonesia, once had a strong tradition of caricature, I can say with great confidence that every prominent newspaper that was once in my hands had its own caricaturist with their own unique characteristics. This tradition is especially memorable during the repressive New Order regime.
In recent times, print media has become less and less popular, and I can no longer say when was the last time I held a newspaper or a magazine. But I can still see in the world of digital media that the caricature tradition is not weakening.
So, you're right, @solperez, enjoying caricatures is like seeing social reflections in another way. Caricature, besides being a work of art, can act as a critique of social circumstances.
Thanks.
"graphic historians" ,, I love how it sounds.
I liked it too.
Am not surprised you love caricature, I always read most of your comments and I noticed you also love jokes or love to joke. 😂
The tragedy in my life is that people often take offense when I joke, and laugh at me when I'm serious. Can life gets funnier than that? Now I decided to get serious at most of the time, since there's need in me to see people laugh. Haha. Amongst those who can't stand my jokes, maybe, is my bro @rashid001 (hey I'm joking don't get offended 😂).
Don't tell me you are not into comics and caricature, bro @saintkelvin17.
Hey Dear, are you joking or being serious? I don't mind at all because expressing feelings in words is a bit difficult.
The thing is, we are on a social media platform where sometimes we try to write down our emotions. Which is very hard to judge in reality. Because face-to-face interactions can be resolved, but writing makes it even more difficult.
Especially when you're not fluent in the language and need to translate, it becomes even harder. Sometimes the translator changes the meaning of our words. And sometimes we make mistakes in choosing the right words.
This kind of conclusion is inevitable. But what I meant was not only on social medias, but basically in the real life where I and they speak the same language. Haha. Hey how are you by the way?
Yes you are right about that and that has turned to a common coincidence these days.
A steemian was very serious few weeks ago, I guess I was still a curator then I'm true colours searching for quality comments to curate. You replied to this steemian's posts jokingly and this almost pissed he/she off 😂😂.
I said to myself what's wrong with this man? 😂. I kept on reading the comments and you managed to explain yourself which made the steemian calm.
Definitely, am into it and am very funny. Sometimes I even laugh for no reason.
Who was it you did piss off with a bad joke if not me? 🤔
I think it was you or stef1 😂😂
@aneukpineung78
@sk17,,, Definitely not @wakeupkitty, you can never piss him (her) off.
Kitty, you know who. 😂😂 You were there. Or maybe it was your alter ego?
It was just a misunderstanding, I and him are good friends. We communicate often in Discord.
not smart to to this to us. 🤔
Shall I ask stef1 to join us?
Haha.
😐... 🤣
@wakeupkitty, between you and me: I do that too. 😐😐
A song by Alejandro Sanz has a couple of verses that I think sum up what you describe.
I understand you.
It really made my day.
HAHAHA
Hey @saintkelvin17 ,, have you heard to this song, bro? 😂😂
No i haven't heard about it, seems it will be a funny one. Am happy it made your day, musics are powerful.
... musics are powerful.
This reminds me of the very first time I get to know @wakeupkitty (or @wakeupkitty.pal ?) That was when I entered a contest held in the Steem for Betterlife community, a contest about music. A real coincidence, that entry of mine is exactly 3 months old today. If you have time, please pay a visit: I Guess Music Made Me Wise ... Or Maybe Not.
Hi @aneukpineung78
Well, I believe that "the comic" as such is more of a format, a medium in which an artist, a illustrator, creates a piece.
And there was a time when comics were not even considered art. I believe that the issue has changed, let's see what the artists think.
Name some comic books you would like to recommend. @joslud.
Physical comic books, I haven't read them in a while, but I grew up influenced by:
What a lot of memories I connected with, thanks for the question.🙏
I've tried the comic in digital format, but I don't like it.

Same! it must be something you can touch, and when it's new, you can smell the paper and the ink. Wow!
I also like Asterix and Obelix.
And there was a time when ...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galactica_%28comics%29
I had a dream once to be a comic artist, turns out I have no talent.
And X-men
Overly popular comics such as those made by DC and Marvel, which span generations, have so many different styles of painting. Marvel's X-Men are among those with multiple versions. The same goes for DC's Superman and Batman. I think each of us will definitely choose a certain version (for its painting style), mainly because of the influence of nostalgia value in it.
While comics like Bobo, Lucky Luke, and Asterix and Obelix, readers will only be familiar with one version.
Well, there are two of us, I also wanted to be a cartoonist and comic artist in my childhood.
I think I'm a better writer... 😂😂
His contribution must have had a huge effect on the art world, so he became one of the google doodles. I take my hat off. May he rest in peace.
So the reality does bite. 😂😂😂
I would say: Obelix and Astrix and: Roodbaard (and opa - very funny)
SSsst ... I love them too ...
Always good but I go for the fat guy eating himself a way through the world 😁
Bring me some more Romans ..
Hahaha
There was also a time when cartoons were not considered books. I know how the primary school I visited was against it. One teacher had a huge collection of comics hidden in the classroom but he wasn't my teacher.
Caricatures and what you showed @joslud is a special way of drawing and it is an art although it doesn't mean all we see is good or will be labelled as such.
The question is where we draw the line and who decides what art is. Wikipedia (everyone can write/change) or?
Same here.
I learned to read with a comic book when I was 6 years old.
My aunt, a preschool teacher, brought me several Billiken magazines to my house one day and simply said: read.
And I learned almost by myself.
Billiken is an educational magazine, in comic format.
Created in Argentina, it has 105 years of history

How cute 😁
So many memories, right, @joslud?
There is a contemporary painter I like a lot. His name is Pawel Kuczynski. But his works are on sites like: Facebook, Cultugrafía, Artlex... And I don't know if for the purposes of the workshop only "creative commons" images are allowed. Can you clarify this for me, please?
Please, what workshop is that?
I am a bit confused about your "workshop" mentioning. @joslud, @tezzmax @grebmot can you answer this question or shine a light on it?
We are not having a workshop right now or but are sharing & caring for painters we like. If it comes to that it doesn't matter if the artist is old or new (alive).
Perhaps you should explain that @yancar. How you deal or involve art.
You are right it is difficult to fins one favourite, because they are all different and maybe that is great because otherwise if we all would love one and do not others, then our world would be pretty grey and monotone. Let's bring the rainbow of people and their tastes :)
