My answers to newbie's Questions! Steemit Helping Hands

It is a linked post of my contribution to help newbies on steemit. In fact, it is a Q/A post. I have compiled the questions/answers asked so far in my group! Have a look and if you feel you know better answer please add it in your comments. I will be happy to edit my post.

Can u tell me about steem power? how can I raise my steem power?
Answer: Steem power determines the power of your upvote. The higher you have SP (Steem Power), the high value your upvote will caste.
You can increase your SP either by getting rewards or if you can invest from your pocket you can buy it too.
When you publish a new post you have three reward options.

• 50/50 SBD and SP,
• 100% power Up,
• Decline Payout.

If you just want to get SP you can choose the second option when you publish your post. But I will suggest you choose the first one I has both SBD and SP. I hope you are clear about this now.

How does this bandwidth thing work?
Answer: When you publish a post, comment on a post, follow, upvote and claim rewards. You are using the bandwidth of steemit. Previously Steemit used to give 30SP to all the new accounts but it has decreased it to 15SP now. They are giving a low bandwidth to all those members with low SP. They are implementing it to prevent spam. If you are a victim of low bandwidth constantly you can delegate some SP from others. I got 15SP from a person yesterday and my bandwidth is good now. At least I am not running low on it. :)

How can we improve our rank?
Answer: You are here referring to reputation, right? Your reputation increases when you get upvotes from others. The higher upvote will surge it. On the other side if you get a flag/downvote your reputation gets a decline. You might have seen people with reputation below 25 (which is normal when your account is created. Even there are people with a negative(-) reputation. Just avoid spamming and don't get into others disputes, it will survive you from lowering your reputation.

Why does steemit members not give an upvote to new member's posts?
Answer: It is because you are just new on this platform and no one knows you. Only some of them will have a look at your post and it is up to them if they want to upvote your post or not. Actually, you have to make your appearance to others by communicating with them. The best way is to start this is by commenting on the others posts (focus on those members who have a high reputation like 60+). You should select new from the top, in front of steem logo. There you will only see the posts which are just published. Don't comment single or two words e.g "Nice photo" or "Good Post" it is considered spam. You should at least post more than 10 words. Also, your comment should be relevant to the post. If you can't read the full post never comment on it.

i) Why steemit posts' dollar value keep varying and their value get reduced?
Answer: Yes that's ture the value of upvotes you have received keeps changing. It is due to the change in the steem price. When the value of Steem increase your upvote value will increase. Currently the value of steem is facing a downward trend. You can check its value here or here. The current SBD to USD Value is $3.24.

ii) What's the reward of resteem posts?
Answer: Regarding the second question, you don't benefit from resteem. It is just a way to share others posts to your followers.

**iii) **Something about curation rewards. How we get it?
Answer: When you upvote others post which are older than 20 minutes you get some part of it as curation rewards.
iv) how to use 50% voting power for upvote .
Answer: I am still unaware of that option about how to use your desired percent upvote instead of 100%. I will post about it when I come to know it.

Answer: It is tough for a beginner to get known in this community. Actually, you have to make your appearance to others by communicating with them. Some layout ideas are needed, I don't know how to make some of the text bold, for example, if the text is italic you use *text*.
Answer: Follow this link to learn the whole styling guideline used at steemit. Markdown Styling Guidlines
To make a text bold you need to add double asterisk **bold**. You can also use HTML tags like for bold it is <b>This text is bold</b>

How to increase the reputation.I do quality posts and good comments too.But there is no increment in the reputation
Answer: You reputation increase when you get upvotes from others.
