After our post from yesterday, we had so many encouraging responses and feedback! It was exciting for us to see how many Steemians feel strongly that individualized programs like Welcome Wagon are necessary and important to the overall success of Steemit! We are fully committed to continuing to come alongside to train, support, and build up our recruits, as their successes directly affect ALL of the Steemiverse!


I read one particular comment yesterday by @natubat that I thought was incredibly insightful. Take a look here:



Great points on some common stumbling blocks!


  • Wasted effort by wandering aimlessly.We try to solve that by pointing our recruits in the right direction quickly! Though we can't recruit everyone into the Wagon, we will try to put tips on our blog for more people to get help in short bursts!  You can FOLLOW our blog, or suggest that a newbie you know FOLLOW, comment, and ask questions!


  • The VALUE of manual voting vs the REALITY of supporting many. There is such value in manual voting!  But, there is also value in being efficient in your time while supporting well-known quality posts.  It's a GREAT idea to join curation trails of groups that host excellent material. Join ours if you like! Steps below.


  • Growing with your peers, while staying in touch with the "new crop"! I firmly believe we can get so fixated on our own station, that we lose sight of the forest through the trees. It's a good practice to find people above you to mentor you, and ALWAYS find people below you to mentor! Keep your finger on the pulse of Steemit - it's how we all stay connected and elevating this platform together!


Interested in following the Welcome Wagon Curation Trail? Here's how!



Log in to https://steemauto.com


It will take you to a screen that uses SteemConnect to log in. (Always make sure that you are on Steemconnect before entering your password!)



Once it verifies your Steemit identity - you will be directed to the following screen.



Click on Curation Trail and search Welcome Wagon



After you FOLLOW, you'll want to adjust the settings! The default is 100% vote, at 0 minutes (Meaning, as soon as the Welcome Wagon account votes on something, you will immediately vote on that post too at 100% voting power. It's best for you to change that to a scaled amount - which is a percentage of the WW vote. If you set it at 25%, your vote will be a 25% vote when we vote 100%. If we vote on something with 10% upvote, YOUR vote will be 2.5% It's scaled to ours :)



UPDATE: In the original post, we suggested that you make sure that your settings have your curation trail set to something other than 0 minutes. Thanks to @bengy confirming, this has been updated as per his comment below. Thank you for that @bengy! As he stated, it is up to the lead voter to make the choice of the timing (against the post). Meaning - You will follow what the Curation trail votes on timing. We currently have it set for 16 minutes on all of our auto votes.


That's how you set up a Curation Trail! Hope that helped!


Finally, @natubat asked if there was a Welcome Wagon Digest - or someplace where the best of the Wagon is featured! I can proudly say that our recruits have been HIGHLY recognized for their material, Curies, interviews, mentions, curation features, author showcases, etc. So you probably have seen some of their work without even realizing that they were part of the Welcome Wagon. However, there are some plans in the works to share some of their work, straight from our mouths! Keep your eye out for our updates, and feel free to FOLLOW us to stay in the know!


Let me just take the time to once again publicly thank you all for your interest and support of the Welcome Wagon! These are exciting times for us all! I have a feeling that Steem will be on the rise again in the near future. When prices rise,people start returning. It will be a good thing to have more of us grounded and focused on the BIG picture - so that we can continue to flourish and steer this ship in the right direction!

    Thanks for explaining all of this in such a detailed way. I've never done autovoting before so I'm a real rookie here. But I've recently invested in Steem power so I'm going to try and share the love around more widely!
    I recently looked at one of those sites that give you voting stats for Steemians, and there was just a miniscule amount of upvotes for people with reps below 50 - this was the case for everyone I looked at, including myself. Once we've been on Steemit a couple of months we just don't see posts from new Steemians, unless we wade through the "New" section! So I think it's great to have this initiative, and I'll look forward to seeing the Welcome Wagon Digest!
    Ok, I'm going to sign up to SteemAuto now... And I'll resteem this too :)

    You're so welcome - and thanks for the DM this morning! Loved the interaction :) Glad to see that you're using the Curation how-to on @thesteemengine's curation trail!!! They are a fabulous community (that I'm so proud to be a part of!!!) and they - and @ethandsmith have been incredibly supportive of Welcome Wagon from the beginning. The amount of generosity and support they have displayed and continue to display to us is overwhelming and a great honor! Happy that we share a mutual love for that community! and so glad that my little tutorial was a part of that discovery for you! hehehehehe

      Not sure your curation rewards paragraph is right for trail follows. It is good for fanbase, but the trail follow, you should follow closely, it is up to the lead voter to make the choice of the timing (against the post).

        Wow, that is a lot of SBI shares! I'm curious about the old stuff one... was that the one that you think I was going to pick? Although, that said, I've already forgotten what they all were... jet lag... yay! .... (studiously avoiding crazy remark...)
