Recently, the influx of new steemit users has been massive and very soon, the steemit block chain is going to be flooded with more users, but the question is would they add more value or subtract value from the platform?
This post is dedicated to new users and people who are intending to join the steemit blockchain. Grab a glass of juice and popcorn, let's learn together.

The blockchain simply put, is the underlying technology behind cryptocurrencies. It is exciting because it allows super fast, decentralized, secure and even allows smart sharing of data.
The blockchain is a distributed network of computers that maintain a decentralized database/ledger, in which records of transactions are structured in a mathematical consensus. Its aim is validate and transmit data without the requirement of a third party. It uses cryptographic security to authenticate data before transmission.
Block chain is a revolutionary technology, it is the evolution of the internet and it is here to say!

UNDERSTANDING STEEMIT BLOCKCHAIN.

The steemit.com platform runs on the same data sharing technology like bitcoin called THE BLOCKCHAIN. The local currency used on the steemit block chain is called "STEEM".
The Steem blockchain generates a new "pool" of currency every day so that when you publish content on Steemit, you receive upvotes. The whole process is very similar to how Bitcoin operates, where miners receive Bitcoin as a reward for processing transactions. But with steem, rather than reward miners content creators are rewarded!
It is safe to say that the block chain technology is not just disruptive for the social media landscape, it can reinvent the way data is shared, secured and distributed globally.

WHAT IS STEEMIT?

Steemit is a social media platform (blogging platform) that pays its users (bloggers) Steem for creating "VALUABLE" contents. Creating contents, commenting and curating posts is the means of finding and rewarding bloggers. Imagine getting paid for sharing your voice.
Steemit is a redefined social media that builds a living, breathing, and growing social economy.

WHAT MAKES STEEMIT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS?

Below is a list of reasons why i think steemit is different from other media platforms.

1. Steemit believes that the users of the platform should be the ones to receive the rewards for the contributions they make to the platform rather than extracting it for their shareholders like other platforms.
2. Unlike other platforms, Steemit CANNOT retrieve your password, so make sure you do not lose your 16-digits password.
3. Your likes (upvotes) has actual values unlike other platforms where your like is just another number.

Why choose other social media or blogging platforms when i can create the same content and earn from it?

WHO SHOULD JOIN STEEMIT?

Basically everyone can join, it doesn't matter who you are, be a painter, artist, poet, writer, news or tech addicts, scientists, engineers, there is enough space to accommodate everyone.
The main aim for this post is to invite you to join us, we (users of steemit) want to explore your own view of the world and see things from your perspective too. It is entirely free to join. In fact , steemit gives you a small token to encourage your start up.

MY SHORT STEEMIT TESTIMONY.

While growing up, the idea of getting paid well as a blogger, live the life i want on my own terms, make friends around the world and travel to see those friends has always been a major drive for me, so i got engaged on a lot of social media platforms like facebook, instagram, twitter, i even went as far as creating a website for my self. I worked with other blogs to create contents for them. Yes, i was that interested in blogging. A few months ago, a friend of mine @ttopswag, whom i had been working with, introduced me to steemit. For a few weeks, i abandoned the blog because i did not understand what was really happening in this big party...haha.
Today, after learning the ropes, i have made a lot of friends, i have been rewarded well a number of times for my contents and most importantly the habits of consistency and responsibility instilled in me through steemit has enabled me to push beyond my boundaries. I have seen friends turned lovers here, i have seen steemians become offline business partners, i have seen beautiful communities of caring and willing people spring out because of steemit. And maybe one day, i would be able to gather enough rewards to live life on my own terms and visit friends i made here on steemit.

i might not be where i want to be yet, but i have moved from where i was yesterday and one day i would reach where i want. 😀

Join the biggest community of bloggers to earn, you can register HERE. After registering you would be required to wait for a few hours or days to get your account verified or go with the other option of paying and getting your account immediately.

Save and guard your steemit pass key

I cannot emphasize this enough, save your keys in a safe place and protect it from third party people and apps.

Introduce yourself and update your profile

Your profile is where everyone runs to when they want to learn about you, update it, add a profile picture. Publish your first post, introduce yourself to us in a post. Give the whole steemit community an insight to what they should expect from you. Although it is not necessary, i have seen some steemians hold up a piece of paper with "steemit and the date" written boldly to make people know you are actually human.

Explore and connect with people.

I mean its a social media, right? Use the explore page, find tags you think you can easily relate with or tags you intend to use on steemit. Read posts on this tags, leave valuable comments, you might want to avoid the casual "nice post" as this is considered spammy. Connect with these authors, follow people with similar vibes. The more you get out there, the more you get noticed and the more you keep growing!. You can EXPLORE now!

Join communities.

Its a big party right here in steemit, identify with a few communities, join their discord chats, meet people with similar interests and socialize!
Communities are created based on your location e.g #kr, #nigeria etc., based on the kind of content you are creating e.g #steemstem, #utopian-io and other basis like that.
