WeKu- The New Kid On The Crypto/Social Media Block

There's a new social media platform in town, set up much like a Steemit clone but with some very important differences. Having just launched their Wekucoin within the past few days, WeKu is now ready to hit the big time. Established 7-8 months ago people have been blogging there awaiting the launch of the coin. Now the coin is available on Bitshares and it's all systems go- with Weku management hoping to gain market shares on other exchanges in the near future as well.
One of the more important differences between WeKu and Steemit is that WeKu is user based, much more friendly to the user. Upward mobility on Steemit is controlled by a few whales, where users post hoping to catch the eye of a whale or two and benefit from a hefty upvote (that rarely comes). WeKu on the other hand is community based. There are community (project) tags to use in concert with topic tags. Legitimate communities (projects) receive delegated voting power from WeKu management with which they can bolster the user's rewards for quality posts, thus improving their experience on the platform, not to mention their payouts.
WeKu management is dedicated to seeing the average user succeed rather than just a few whales- on WeKu everyone has an equal chance of success. This isn't to say that there aren't whales on WeKu, only that their influence is counterbalanced by the communities and the WeKu Team that stay engaged and interactive with the communities.
Another key difference between WeKu and Steemit is WeKu's focus on content creators. WeKu is designed for bloggers of all types, whether they're writers, vloggers, poets, photographers, journalists, artists, or simply people that like to blog about hobbies or aspects of their everyday lives- as long as you have something to offer, WeKu is the place for you. Steemit began that way, but soon devolved into a platform, "like Facebook only you get paid." A horrendous marketing blunder- it precipitated an avalanche of people with nothing to offer except unrealistic expectations punctuated with attempts to game the system with multiple comments- all naturally upvoted by themselves. WeKu has implemented safeguards to prevent this from happening.
WeKu is now open for business and ready to take its place in the crypto world. The price is at its lowest and the time to buy is now... or even if you're just a blogger looking to share your ideas with the world- WeKu is the future of social media and we look forward to seeing you there.
The cost of those "safeguards" is centralization. And as far as I can tell, doing well there is even more dependent on whales than it is on Steem. I mean the W$479 you currently have on your last post is from only 17 votes. And I bet most of that is really from 1 or a few of them. You just happen to have those whales voting for you there but not here. Your $17 post from 101 votes from here yesterday looks much better. Unless it's mostly from bid bots of course :).
Meanwhile, with Steem you have a more decentralized system (via a more robust system of witnesses), tons of dApps (non-existant on Weku), far more users, and more and better content (you'll find more garbage as well but it's easy enough to flag or ignore). Not to mention a coin with a little value.
Yes, Steem has its own problems. Bid bots for instance. But various curation efforts (of which there seem to be far more of here than on Weku...again, it's more centralized over there at least for now) have slowly improved things and I expect them to continue to improve.
Of course, individual user experience may vary. You could have a crappy experience here and then a great one there or vice versa depending on your audience, which way the whales are voting, and even random chance. And given the price it IS a great time to buy if you believe in the platform.
A post like this one extolling the virtues of Steem on Weku would likely earn you flags until your rep was -20. A cross post from Steem or your own blog will also likely earn you flags until your rep is -20. I know, it happened to me. Also, don't put dClick ads on your Weku posts. That also will likely earn you flags until your rep is -20 (it only takes 1 or 2 from a whale there anyway). In fact, it's probably better not to mention Steem at all unless it is to criticize it. They are very sensitive about that over there. Though of course advertising Weku everywhere else (like here) is strongly encouraged. And God forbid you combine 2 or more of these cardinal sins. I think I had a cross-post with a dclick ad. I may never recover.
I'm still using Steem, Whaleshares and Weku but for me Weku is in a distant third place and the first I would drop. The powers that be there are a little too dictatorial for my taste and there are too many unwritten rules. Still hoping for improvement but it is way too big a leap of faith for me right now to think of Weku as the future of social media.
I left weku so fast when I saw that they had given themselves billions and apparently it was "a mistake as it happened before they even launched". This is an exit scam, and I hope that people learn to spot these obvious exit scams next time.

It's available on Bitshares now. The problem is that most of the idiots on there are from places like Bangladesh and have a kindergarten understanding of economics. As soon as it hit the market they started selling and then posting on Discord things like: "I'm selling my weku and the price keeps going down- why?" Now's the time to buy! (check my wallet, I wish I had more money)
I wrote posts trying to explain supply and demand and how they were the ones driving the price down. Some guy said he wanted an explanation other than supply and demand (one where he could sell and make the price go up apparently). Like Q says "these people are stupid."

Thank you my old friend. They gave me a job over there writing announcements guidelines, etc. I'm doing well there, the upward mobility is great. The thing I like best is the support users get from the management team. Instead of the power being vested in the hands of a few whales, they delegate voting power to communities so they in turn can support the writers, etc..
I'm going to start blogging here more too, I miss my friends here. I'm just getting old and my energy isn't what it once was.
Reading that advert it sounds like a place I would like to join.
