There have been several discussions going on, the pace at which things move is very slow for fear of downtime.

WEKU needs to become a real free decentralized entity based on blockchain governance model.

This will be impossible until the witness code is open source, freely avaialble for anyone to install, but for this to happen that code which has been damaged because of constant attempts to keep the website running at all costs needs to be fixed.

HARDFORK 22 is not a cosmetic change of WEKU

Actually users might not see any difference at all, the difference will be in how solid the blockchain ledger is, resilient to 51% attacks, resilient to bad actors.

This is not a proposal for split, on the contrary it is a proposal for unification of all the actors working for WEKU to become successful

How can we make this happen ?

I have been working with Julian González (@JGA on steemit), for those who think I know blockchain... Let me tell you something, Julian has teached me and helped me to achieve 70% of what I know, the remaining 30% I teached myself.

Anyway...

Julian helped me review the code of weku and initially we both were convinced everything was damaged beyond repair, but since the integer overflow that happened on May the 1st, he has been helping me review what is wrong and together we have been making tests and changes and more tests and more changes so the code is finally reverting most of the damages caused by lack of blockchain knowledge and understanding.

I had a meeting with WEKU team

They are scared of change because they are scared of downtime on the site and to alienate and upset you! (the users), that is why my initial proposal for HF21 was reverted to a reduced version that only addressed the symptom and did not took the opportunity to correct other problems.

They want to setup a test environment and validate their changes before putting them in production.

That on itself is not a bad approach, just by the way blockcahins are, a test environment would not reproduce real blockchain activity and it is basically an unneeded delay for progress.

But we have not much choice, doing an aggressive chain split would be dishonest even if it done with WEKU at hearth and respecting their stake.

Everyday we run with HF21 is a day where the monetary ledger of the blockchain gets distorted and increases the problem magnitude making it more difficult to restore, if we wait much longer the errors will be too big to recover from and WEKU will die.

This is why I am setting in the weku development server a test environment where we will deploy HF22 with a web site so you can post and test.

• I am inviting any witness (since now most are iddle not being allowed to activate their node) to contact me if they would like to be part of the tests.

• I am also inviting all users who want to help WEKU progress to post and use the test environment.

Let me be clear!

Everything you do in the test environment, any rewards for witnesses, any posts rewards, any money transfers.

Will be isolated from the real WEKU and will be destroyed afterwards, but we need user activity and witness activity to prove our WEKU management that this really works and that there will not be any down time if they decide to adopt it.

because if with your help we convince the management this is the way forward then real decentralization would happen and real interest from the blockchain community will increase.
