How a Deck of Cards Mysteriously Predicted Our Biggest Disasters

Every generation in the past few centuries has had a mysterious personality that made some bold, yet somehow accurate predictions about the future while at the same time cloaking their premonitions under some form of art, symbolism, or even vague terminology. Examples are many, Nostradamus and his quadrants, Parravicini and his drawings...Etc.

There are however, some who prefer to depict their predictions in the most explicit way, and as you will observe very shortly, they can be shockingly accurate.

Whether you believe in the power of visions and psychic abilities or you think that it’s just lots of coincidence at play here, it is hard to deny that the works of art featured below do bear an eerie similarity to some tragic and emotional world events that have taken place many years later.

The Twin Towers Attack

On the morning of September 11, 2001, nineteen Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four California-bound commercial jetliners that had departed that day from Boston, Newark, and Washington, DC. According to the official statement, the hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.
Both towers collapsed within two hours after impact, destroying or damaging several nearby buildings in the process and leaving almost three thousand casualties.

Though many people are suspected to have predicted the attack on the Twin Towers (allegedly the Simpsons, the TV show Lone Gunman...Etc) Mr. Jackson has not only accurately foresaw that the twin towers were to be targeted in a terrorist attack but also forecasted (spoiler alert) the attack on the Pentagon on the very same day.

The Pentagon

The imagery of the twin towers on 9/11 and its aftermath represent some of the most iconic pictures in modern history as they were published by countless media outlets around the world. Hell, some channels have been showing the same image on repeat for ten years straight.

It’s easy to forget that on that very same day, there was another airplane flown by terrorists that crashed into the Pentagon just outside of Washington, and a fourth plane that crashed into a field in rural Pennsylvania.

As reported by the New York Times, flight AA 77 approached the Pentagon executing a 270-degree 7,000-foot descent over Washington while flying at 500 mph, on a horizontal trajectory and clipping the power lines across the street in the process, then it smashed into an outer wall of the Pentagon causing a mass casualty incident with 189 deaths and 106 injuries.

Keeping in mind that these cards were issued in 1995, we cannot help but wonder about the psychic abilities of Steve Jackson, foreseeing the Twin Towers was one thing, but the pentagon as well? That’s just creepy.

3 The Oil Spill Card

The Deepwater Horizon disaster, also known as the BP oil spill is the biggest ever accidental release of oil into the oceans, according to the US government's latest estimate.

The magnitude of the disaster was of such proportions that the viral picture of Birds drenched in oil emerged into one of the most moving and iconic images of that year immediately setting environmentalists on red alert as more than 400 species lived in the affected area, including endangered ones.

What Happened?

On the evening of 20 April 2010, a gas release and subsequent explosion occurred on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig working on the Macondo exploration well for BP in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 41 miles (66 km) off the coast of Louisiana.

The official version has it that workers had started building a cement casing when methane gas shot up from the well, ignited, and exploded. The platform, in flames, was then evacuated. Eleven workers were never found, and 17 others were injured. Attempts to put out the fire failed and after burning for 36 hours, the Deepwater Horizon sank.

Weirdest of all, the drawing that Mr. Jackson chose for his 1995 card bears great similarity to the most iconic picture of the oil spill oil that materialized 14 years later. I don’t know about you but it’s getting chilly around here.

** Fukushima, combined disasters**

The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on Friday 11 March 2011 is considered one of the biggest tragedies in history of the country. The earthquake was a rare and complex double quake giving a severe duration of about 3 minutes, with a terrifying magnitude of 9.0.

Before that, the tsunami had already inundated about 560 sq km and resulted in a human death toll of over 19,000 and much damage to coastal ports and towns destroying over a million buildings. Murphy’s Law as its best.

But it gets worse, much worse, because shortly after that it hit the nuclear reactors. Holy crap!

What’s eerie about this whole thing is the display of the Ginza Wako Clock in on the card, with the hands of the clock pointing on three and eleven which can be interpreted as the date of the Japan disaster, March 2011 (if we put on our conspiracy theory hats).

One would probably have better odds of getting struck by lightning while holding a winning lottery ticket than predicting such a rare combination of disasters—yet that’s exactly what Steve did.

The Indian Ocean Tsunami

On December 26, 2004, a magnitude 9.1 earthquake struck beneath the Indian Ocean near Indonesia, generating a massive tsunami that claimed more than 230,000 lives in fourteen different countries, one of the deadliest natural disasters ever recorded. Although, many of the communities have recovered, many painful memories and some damaged structures remain in place.

Today, 11 years and a couple of movies later, one question remains, could it have been predicted?

No one knows, but the Indonesian government still receives continued warnings from earthquake experts to this day, advising that early-warning systems need even more development and funding in the region.

Naturally, we are not recommending that those early-warning systems should include a deck of playing cards, obviously not. Though it’s worth noting that this 1995 card contained a strangely detailed description of such a tragedy with the word “Tsunami” and the Monas tower illustrated in the background.

For some weird reason unbeknownst to us, Mr. Jackson seems to be strangely accurate when it comes to predicting catastrophes. The question is, how does he do it? Is it clairvoyance, precognitive dreams or maybe just pure sheer luck?
