Weekend Freewrite -6/1/2019 - Single Prompt Option: Talking Dog
My neighbor Sarah has the biggest, most energetic dog ever, named Max. And boy does he cause her maximum trouble. He's all but twice her size, and loves to walk and run her all over the place. Half the time when she is trying to get him to sit or heel, she ends up sitting right down on her tail with him.
I went to talk with her about it yesterday, gently suggesting that Max might be better suited to an owner big and strong enough to handle him without getting hurt. I mean, the medical bills are already coming in for Sarah.
She laughed at me.
"Give up my talking dog? No way!"
"He talks?"
"Sure, he does -- and he knows just what to say. Watch this. Today, I was in traffic three hours trying to get to work --."
"Rough!" said Max.
"-- and then when I got there, a whole bunch of other people were late so the boss piled their work on me --."
"Rough Rough!" said Max.
" -- and then just as soon as I got all of that work done, here come the rest of the late folks wanting to change everything around. All that mess, and we lost the account!"
"Rough Rough Rough!" said Max.
Sarah bent down and wrapped her arms around Max.
"See? Not only does he talk, but he understands what I go through every day. I'll never give him up, even if he kills me!"
What people do for love and good conversation...
