This is terrific Marie-Jay! You conveyed how it's hard on a kid being thought of as merely a duty and having to be a party to one parent constantly lying to the other so well and I feel for the protagonist and her mother. Sadly, she may not be over-dramatic in her wonderings about what will happen to her mother once she and her father leave.
