Weekend Freewrite: Prompt: Washcloths + Sour + The Four Corners

Continuation from Part 1
"Good night, mummy. I promise I won't play too far from home tomorrow, I love you."
"I love you. Sweet dreams!"
She watched as her little girl's tiny stature lifted herself up the stairs and off to her bedroom.
It was half past ten on a Friday night so she wasn't going to be too hard on herself on keeping perfect sleep time.
She picked up the washcloths that were left on the stairs and tossed them onto the pile of dirty clothes. There was a familiar sour smell coming from around the pile, and with a tired back she bent down to sniff around in an attempt to search for the source of smell only to remember that she had left a milk soaked napkin somewhere to answer the phone in the living room earlier in the afternoon and then forgotten about it.
She hurriedly took the napkin and did a quick wash at the basin before throwing it along with the pile of clothes into the washer.
The monotonous sound of the washer was enough to send her mind into a blank space. Her stiff shoulders were proof of tirelessly overworking herself followed by an increasing bloat in her stomach.
Must be the time of the month coming real soon, she thought.
She stared at one of the four corners of the wall, wondering what time would her husband be home.
Her mind seemed to be running on autopilot and without much thinking, her thoughts drifted towards a particular scene.
"I miss you."
