Pretty flowers, pesky weeds

Bladderweed.jpg

Bladderweed is the common name of Hibiscus trionium, a weed that grows in disturbed soil, making it a pioneer plant and an agricultural pest. It's another plant which has flowers that only open for a few hours, if the sun is shining. It was overcast the day I made this shot, which is why it's only half-open
Here is the bladder it is named for, it's a seed capsule.

Although this plant is a naturalised weed from Europe, it is not an invasive species because it doesn't outcompete indigenous vegetation and as a pioneer plant, it can be helpful in the process of re-establishing vegetation where the ground has been disturbed although it can be a nuisance in crops. True to its nature, it was growing on the mound of soil I excavated when fixing the drainage issues around the house

Very small and cute flowers! The flowers should be bigger!

They are bigger when they open fully although they are much smaller than garden hibiscus

Still it's an attractive little guy.

I really like the look of the seed capsules

Looks edible and tempting to touch.

I don't think it is, though

Its very pretty, even if its supposed to be a weed.

I like this one, for sure

Interesting flower, blooms only when the sun shines. Probably sunny color is good for him.

The sunny colour attracts bees and it only opens when bees are active

It is very interesting how everything in nature is mutually connected, sunlight, bees, flowers. True harmony.

I liked this weed! :-))
I would like to see his seed box in a black and white background!
Рlease!

You mean like this?
