Rainy season has come to my corner of Japan and the weather news says the same thing just about every day: high humidity; chance of rain. About the only thing that changes is the temperature, which only goes higher as the summer progresses.

None of which means a thing to Lucy the dog. Her basic desire in life is to sniff all the things and her main source of happiness is going on all the walks. So, we drove out to a nice little neighborhood in the middle-of-nowhere and spent a pleasant enough hour just walking around and peering down empty-seeming roads and byways.

Eventually, the forecasted rain began to fall, leaving us with no choice but to march back to car and thence to home, where we’ll wait out any break in the rain for another chance to venture outside.
