RE: Wednesday Walk-ing into Spring
The May Day celebration - a traditional festival to celebrate spring !! I went to a Catholic School my entire life and we had the Maypole and everything.
I loved it! It a public Holiday where you are, is it not? I hope you had a very nice celebration! Happy May Day!

Yes, it is also a holiday here in Ukraine (day off). But it is a Labor Day and so on. We inherited it from USSR, when it was celebrated in a big way with parades, flags, songs and reports about achievements.
When we got our independence, the holiday remains, but no parade and all such, so people spend it in different styles. Those who have harden work in the garden. Or go to a picnic with a barbeque, or travel.
Actually, we have no celebration of spring that would be common to all country, although it would be nice to have one!
But there are local festivals in some regions dedicated or related to spring, like blooming of cherry, or lilac, etc.
Happy late May Day! :))
