Local Greenhouse/Mini-Ranch Walk

We saw the signs last year, just never had the time to stop by and take a look, this year we made a special drive to actually stop and wander around the Greenhouse. We are glad we did. The long days are gone, already the sun starts it slide back to the south, and they had a good sale going on. Along with the green house they have a lot of critters you can take a look at and it is fine to take pictures both inside and outside of the greenhouse. Friday I'll try and remember and post some of the critters.

When you first approach the greenhouse you are greeted by this sculpture/art piece. A semi large welded boat anchor chain with a big glass fishing float.I had my landscape lens on for these photograph, I should have put the regular 35 mm lens on, but, camera in hand lens attached that is the one that got used. Clicking on the Large View link highly recommended. I am trying out different formatting techniques lately. These smaller images will give an idea though of whats behind the click. The seperation bar was created from a cut-out of a flower petal 1200 X 20 size, feel free to use if you like.

Little different contains for flowers are always a cool thing to see, and use. This place has some very nice planters. I liked this donkey and cart container.I like the paint job they did on it, a lot of times containers are just bought and plated up. Nothing wrong with the plain wood aging look at all, it has it's own beauty, but I like how the honey pine color and the the black wheels really set off the red geraniums. I think it would look just as good unpainted and weathered to where it looked old. In a hide away type setting under a tree or bush in against some old brambles or wood pile, the unpainted weathered look would look great, here out in the open I like the painted look.

Now for a couple of flower shots. This first one I wanted to try and get a profile type shot of it. Not sure of the names of any of these flowers, I know I need to start paying more attention to the details, but I was just enjoying taking pictures and practicing my Photo-Yoga moves. Photography is good exercise for stretching and thing, but as you get older it becomes just a tad bit more difficult, still got to get those shots even if you look like a skinny football lineman ready to get trounced. It was a good thing it was a nice sunny day, I don't think I held very still, but with a fast speed I was able to get the image I wanted to. Those half squat positions are murder on the hips, but we do what we have to when we want something whether it is the picture shot we are looking to get, or if it is that long stretch to get something off the top shelf. It is what keeps us supple and flexible. This little guy was in one of those three or four clay pots stands. You can bend the arms down at angles that are pleasing to you as they did and you can see in the clay pot in the background. Pretty handy plant stands, they just poke a foot or so into the ground and instant room and no holes to dig. The christmas tree style ones are pretty popular in Alaska.

These beautiful looking flowers were the ones I used to create my seperation bar. No special planter or anything for them, I think they were jsut in a standard black plastic bucket. With all the growth and the healthy status of this flower if it was in a special planter it would have been hard to see unless you moved leaves about and actually looked. so it could have been in a very nice clay pot. It could have been in a very nice clay pot, I really am not sure, and since it was one of the Out Front Flowers it likely was in a very nice pot. Along with all the decorative things and art works they did have some very nice plant containers. The post is getting a lot longer than I had anticipated. We spent quite a bit of time picking out what flowers we wanted and then even longer wandering around taking pictures. It was a good stop and shop kind of day.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay. This week is - Wednesday walk and Make me smile challenge collaboration results and Steem Basic Income Give away - let him first explain the guidelines. Don't forget it is a Make Me Smile Challenge also from @elizacheng.

That donkey and cart plant holder is so cool

Isn’t it funny ad age captures up with us getting into certain positions for photos sure is harder than it used to be but we don’t let it stop us even if we struggle to get back up after the shit lol

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Wow! It's an awesome place to visit. The art piece is beautiful. And love your flower photos. Colors are beautiful. Especially the purple flower. Thanks for remembering MakeMeSmile. This really make me smile! 😀

Thank you. they had a lot of stuff to look at. The barn cat was quite a friendly little guy, and it was cool seeing some of the birds they had and the horses and donkeys. The nice thing was they did not mind if people took pictures, that was great of them.
