Wednesday Walk - The Continuing Saga of the 'Driveway'

As the Driveway Turns

It has been almost a month since the last driveway saga post. It was not that nice a day the lighting could have been better and the sky something other than a white out. Basically a typical spring day, we had some rain in the morning, some early afternoon sunshine, that lasted all of maybe an hour then back to the greyish white sky day and lighting. That's okay, pretty used to it. I see as I type this that we are getting some mid evening sunshine, maybe it will last more than an hour and give us a nice sunset, who knows.

Last update was on 4-4-2019. It was 33 Degrees Fahrenheit then. Today we actually got up to 56 degrees, it did not last long though. It was only about 45 degrees when I took the pictures. Not many, so up first is the panoramic stitched together 5 photo sequence. I did not use the tripod so I lost a lot on the height of the picture.

Last month the driveway was pretty soft, and the oil delivery guy decided not to try to back all the way in, we still have pretty good ruts at the end/beginning of the driveway, so we were glad he chose not to deliver then. The driveway is still a bit soft, but he should not make to big of ruts next week.

No snow along the edges, and drying out pretty nicely. Hopefully it is also getting a lot firmer. I really do not want to have to deal with ruts in the driveway. I did try to get a picture of some green grass starting to grow, but it just did not come out very well with the lighting. So no grass shots, I know some are going to be disappointed that the grass has yet to show. We do still have a pretty good sized snow pile, it should be gone by next Friday.

Two months ago 3-1-2019 - A huge difference. Well that pretty much wraps my wednesdaywalk up. Surprisingly the sun is still shining, why it could not do that while I was taking pictures I just do not know.

You know, I forgot you live in Alaska! Those ruts are a real problem!! It is not as remote (yet many of us would say how remote!!!) LOL as I live in Washington, DC.

I know you live is such a place of beauty and I hope you get that driveway saga put to bed soon!

!tip

I am sure it will, we had rain again off and on yesterday, and this morning also, but we have had some windy days and that helps dry things out and gives them time to firm up. It is not as squishy as it was last week, so hopefully the oil guy can make it in next week with out to much damage being caused.

Nice panoramic photos.

You should see grass soon! And then spring will sneak up on you. Here in Montana we are finally greening up. Only a month or so after everyone else in the lower 48... it keeps snowing just a little every now and then.
I hope you don't get ruts. Those can be such a pain to fix.

Wow! You still have snow. I have to know. Where do you live, obviously at altitude but it looks really remote. Are you a homesteader?

We live in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula. The hospital is about 30 miles away, and two smallish towns of Kenai and Soldotna are pretty close, populations of about 6000 each I think. So not very remote. Actual altitude for us is just about 100 feet above sea level.

We are about half that in Vancouver. I would have thought sea level as it is right outside my door but what do I know. Your home looks like a beautiful place to be:)

Mother Nature likes teasing us I think the only sun shining periods we have had this week is when I have been stuck in the office anytime I have been out walking it’s been dreary

Soon your grease will appear

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Should have some green grasses next month or in a week or two, the grasses are starting to grow a little bit, so hopefully no more snow, but still to early to make the call of end of snow season.

Let’s hope no more sorry I have decided not to use that four letter word fit the white stuff after a typo in a comment to @melinda010100 I now call it Doe Snot ( I meant to type does not and said instead daud Doe Snot ) and now I am sticking with that instead of the four letter word starting with S fir the white stuff that falls from the sky

Let’s hope you soon have nice fields of fresh green grass

Yep. That's Doe Snot, just like Jj says! See my Doe Snot post today!

I hope the sun makes a real appearance soon and that your driveway becomes more manageable. Your summers must be spectacular after putting up with all that winter. At least, I hope they are!

Actually, I don't think there is a better summer anywhere in the world except for maybe parts of Northern Canada and Siberia. I absolutely love the summers in Alaska.
