A driveway walk and update
You see we had some rain, that snow from 3 weeks ago has pretty much been it. The only snow left on the ground is where people plowed and piled the snow, otherwise it is pretty much all gone. It is much much easier and safer to drive in that little bit of snow than it is on top of an inch and a half of solid ice.
Three weeks ago 11/11/18 this is what the driveway looked like this:
That was a lot better looking than what it looked like yesterday morning, and today.
Since it is wednesday and it has been a couple of wednesdays since I last did a walk post I thought I would brave the ice and do a very short walk, it took a little bit to get to the picture taking point, even though I have my ice cleats on my shoes. I still wanted to be real careful, bones break easy and I for one do not want to break one.
So camera and tripod in hand I braved the ice. It was not real cold so just a light coat was fine probably about 25 F. A couple of weeks ago I did a driveway post because I was playing with a paint program I downloaded back awhile ago, and wanted to play with it a little bit. So I had a two shot hand help pano creation. It came out pretty good, at least I thought so, so I wanted to try and do a 4 panel pano from the tripod. Real happy with the results:

Do you do winter tires over there? In the UK nobody does, and the roads come to a grinding halt with the slightest bit of snow due to everyone being unprepared, yet here in Poland, everyone has winter and summer tires. :-)
Yep, two sets of tires, winter and summer, studded tires for the winter. I reached the age of having to use stretch on cleats for my shoes now. First time, until this year I could still just slip and slide walk, not this year, already had one fall getting of of the car, so now studs for the shoes too.
we're not allowed to use studded tires or chains around here. All we got are winter tires and it snows a lot.
Your politicians must own auto dealerships or auto repair stores, and have convinced people that studded tires tear the road up, while it is perfectly fine for their snowplows to use chains for school busses to use chains for emergency response vehicles to use studded tires, for their limos to use chains. If any of the mentioned occur then yeah your politicians are only about the money.

Yeah, it kind of sucks but such is life we deal with it. hard part is trying to put them on and take them off when in the car, so now thinking about having to carry an extra set of shoes because the stores don't allow you to wear them inside. So far the parking lots have been walkable, but not sure about later in the season. Snow is not so bad, it is just the ice, it really sucks.
Sounds like you are having a worse winter than we are, for the most part we are at 3 - 7c so not at freezing, and no snow, no rain, no wind. Very mild so far, touch wood.
We are actually having a warmish winter so far, and that is the problem, No snow. We are in the -3 to 4c range about 25-36f range, which could be either snow or rain in Alaska, and so far it has all been from the central pacific storms (southerly flow) so warm air warm rain and then freezing.
In 1986 we had an inch and a half of ice all over everything that year, so warm winter not to unusual, but I would prefer a little bit of snow on the ground instead of rain or freezing rain. On the plus side of that warm winter in 86, we had a great summer and hardly any rain in 87.
