Exorde: Fake technology as a weapon of information warfare
Recently, the number of fakes has increased significantly in an absolute, not a relative, manner. At present, this is no longer a harmless single error in the transmitted information, but an active tool for deliberate manipulation in a global manner.
In February 2017, Science magazine, one of the most prestigious scientific publications in the world, made fake news the main topic of its issue. Scientists have collected more than 126,000 fake and true news circulated on Twitter over the past decade. Their analysis showed that lies are becoming more popular than the truth.
Due to the rapid development of information technology and the expansion of technical capabilities, it is difficult to distinguish the truth from rumors and half-truths. Since technologies now exist that allow every user to easily copy documents, images and audio files, this will always be a barrier to reliable information.
Today, those people who know the least about complex issues (economic, political, state) are most convinced that they know enough about them. And any attempts to convey reliable information to these people give the opposite result.
This situation is the result of a combination of two factors.
The first is the explosive growth of information volumes, in which true knowledge simply drowns, it is not easy even for specialists to separate truth from fiction.
And the second is that the latest inventions in the field of mass communications and information technology, created to facilitate a person's access to the necessary information, in fact slip him information that is convenient.
The very technology of fake as a weapon of information warfare is based on the natural property of the human brain to accept new knowledge more readily if it confirms or supplements what is already known. That is, if you expect terrible consequences from a pandemic, then you are more likely to believe in a fake about how the state, under the cover of night with military equipment, takes hundreds of corpses out of the city than reliable information about the number of people who have recovered.
The scale of fake news is almost doubling every year: if from April to September 2018, Facebook deleted 1.55 billion fake accounts, then for the same period in 2019 - already 3.2 billion.
The main necessary skill is to learn to recognize fakes. It's not easy at first sight. One must be careful before calling a fake completely made up. It may also be due to typing inattention and technical errors.
Today there is such a situation that our media space is strangled by many illusions, manipulations and misinformation, because all this is presented in the form of news. This has led to an increase in public demand for the services of fact-checking organizations. We know that demand creates supply. Even Google and Amazon have chosen to use fact checking as a competitive advantage.
The main and most difficult task today is the creation of technologies for recognizing fakes. This requires the active participation of all innovative companies working in the field of increasing the effectiveness of the use of artificial intelligence (AI), which will become an obstacle to the production and distribution of fakes.
One such project is an ecosystem called Exorde, built around a core platform that provides objective assessments of trust in information based on a community and an artificial intelligence module. The idea of the project is to track the spread of information across the entire Internet network in real time. The goal of the project is to find the source of viral information in its original form, before this information becomes viral.
Exorde is run by its DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) and uses community votes and polls. Management will be decentralized among all members of the community. Collectively, they will be able to change the internal rules and parameters of the systems (rewards, limits, delays, scheduling, etc.) and will have a built-in reputation system. These mechanisms are designed to continually align the interests of the community and its governance for the benefit of Exorde.
The Exorde Work Systems are the core component and will serve as the base layer for the entire ecosystem. Exorde is based on four main parameters:
Ethereum is an open source platform that allows developers to create and deploy decentralized applications on it.
Skale is an elastic sidechain network connected to the Ethereum chain, acting as an execution layer. It is a scalable and elastic environment that provides high transaction throughput.
Filecoin is a decentralized data storage system that intends to replace the expensive and inefficient servers of Google and Amazon.
NLP is an artificial intelligence module that will work with unstructured text.
Where will the AI get the data for analysis?
The object of study in NLP is the text, so one of the main questions in the analysis is
the choice of relevant sources of textual materials. Depending on the tasks set, data sources can be electronic media databases, social networking data, open language corpora, and others, including open and accessible research resources.
These media will allow you to analyze social, political, informational aspects and moods in society. Data from social networks make it possible to conduct marketing analysis for companies and corporations, to assess the disorganization of various social strata of society. Open language corpora and scientific resources are mainly aimed at researching and testing various phenomena, hypotheses, and scientific facts.
So, what can we say about the integration of NLP into the Exorde ecosystem? In our project, the artificial intelligence module will allow us to recognize objects in the text, extract sentences, facts, compare them with each other and perform similarity checks. Such an approach will make the joint work of participants and AI more efficient, will allow tracking relevant and fresh information received by the network, and form a more objective opinion.
But most importantly, you need to remember that information wars take place among people. And, unfortunately, at this point in time, most of us do not have a sense of responsibility for the spread of false messages, images and videos. Therefore, the key issue is the education of an information culture by society. And Exorde will help us evaluate the information.
