Singing in the rain!

in #weather6 years ago

The weather patterns across the entire United States this year have been all out of wack! From heavy snowfall well into April, extreme wildfires covering hundreds of thousands of acres of land in California, freezing cold dropping all the way down to Florida, and much more.

In Florida, we have been experiencing a significant drought. It is not quite the level of California, but still pretty bad. Usually by this time of year, we would have received double, if not triple, the amount of rainfall by this time. Our crops have suffered, pollen issues (it covers your car in a yellow film residue and causes high-level allergy issues for chronic allergy sufferers) have stretched well into this month (most of that would be well gone by now), and many beautiful flowers and plants are dying. Luckily, yesterday afternoon we received that well-needed nourishment for nature and drought relief. Even though it only lasted 15 - 20 minutes (in that time period, Florida has been known to receive well over 6 inches of rain), we had some heavy downpours. I was able to capture some video of the rain coming down.

As you can see from the video, the winds were howling through the streets, bring over 40 mph wind gusts. It almost had the appearance of Tropical Storm weather, something we are very accustomed to on this peninsula. Hopefully this weather will bring us and nature good fortune, luscious plant life and a well deserved break from the unbearable pollen. My water bill needs a break from having to water my lawn all the time to keep it alive!
