Minecraft and CryptoEconomics: The future of gaming

Well, there’s no need to tell what a Minecraft is. At the moment, every modern young person and adult knows, what kind of game it is. There you can be a master of your own cyber world. This game proves us that SEGA’s 8-bit pixel graphics is not an indicator of a bad game at all. Gameplay has a significant role in Minecraft which proves that indie games can become mainstream and reach out to multi-million audience. In the meantime, founders earn billions, analogous to developers of other dominant games.

So, what exactly users get and why they get so addictive? First of all, it’s a discretion of course. Players can do whatever floats their boat. They can mine and extract minerals, do alchemy, craft and invent new items, fight rabbits and all sorts of creatures or have a peaceful life, wander in a pixel forest, watch sunrises and sunsets. Fortunately, I personally, started playing Minecraft a lot later since the game gained its recognition. Otherwise, most likely I would be kicked out of the final year of Uni as sometimes I get sucked into a game and become distracted from studies, office work and a real world. However, you don’t want to spend hours on mining ores or minerals, chopping down trees in order to build your housing. Sometimes, you just want to buy granite or bricks, wood, other materials and just chill doing construction and design. It is so relaxing and easy though. Especially when market mod takes place. There you can buy Minecraft coins, go to a store or market whatever it is called and buy everything you need. Blimey, pay for coins in order to buy bricks? I couldn’t bring myself to do that.

In my opinion, there is a lack of mod with free-market relations in either single mode or multiplayer. Imagine how great would be to find plenty of mineral sources and significantly level up your mining skill or simply extract elements and put them on a market for sale especially when the market is next to your shelter. Being like a local wolf of Wall street by letting other players trade their resources or crafted weapons in order to buy minerals from you. Oh, hang on, it’s really cool though, but this trade only lets you exchange goods for goods. As the practice shows such model doesn’t always work well and fairly. Sometimes it’s difficult to realise a true value of goods which are being traded. There’s no common monetary unit which would let measure the value of anything in this so-called virtual universe.
Imagine if there was something that would let you switch between servers, from mod to mod without losing your funds and remain unique. For example, cent? Well no, it’s too boring. To the rescue here comes very hyped and innovative crypto currency. It’s perfect, Carl.

Some sort of plugin will be evaluating assets. This would let buyers pay for desired goods directly from their wallets and sellers earn digital coins right in the game. So, it turns out that you can mine ores, sell them and earn coins. This is what I’d really enjoy. Just mine granite, craft blocks and sell them at your back garden and earn coins which you can withdraw to fiat currency. Or you can just purchase goods in the game. Not too bad. What can you buy for them coins? Here it’s all already invented. As the result of emerging NFT tokens we have an opportunity to create unique items. Let’s say a horned helmet and medal of great miner will let you increase your extraction by 1%. So, what else? A wide range of items — swords, sabres, red trousers etc. It has become possible as the crypto economy is being integrated into a game. One way or another, digital assets are gradually pushing out current models and new ones are coming to replace them.
Crypto economy is a great solution to achieve a set goal and a way to earn money in games. It lets boredom killer game become not only an entertainment but a broad and unique way of earning.
