Precious Water Needs Protecting
Michigan is surrounded by fresh water. In fact one has to travel no more than six miles from any location to get to a fresh water source. One fifth of the worlds fresh water is within the great lakes.
Enbridge oil runs a pipeline under the straights of Mackinac. The pipeline is 63 years old and at risk of leaks. If the pipeline leaks it has the potential to destroy the precious natural resources of fresh water.
A previous leak in the Kalamazoo River costs billions of dollars. Now Enbridge has bought all the homes on the river near the leak for an additional 1.7 million dollars. This will prevent further lawsuits and any development on polluted land.
If the pipeline leaks in the winter the results would be devastating as the thick ice would prevent cleanup.

Upvoted and resteemed. I live on the shore of Lake Erie.
Awesome. You know too, the other challenge of fertilizer run off causing algea blooms, dead zones and toxic drinking water. We must all work together to protect the fresh water, which too many take for granted.
