Ukraine did not seek war with Russia. The Russo-Ukrainian War officially began when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. This attack followed a prolonged period of tension that began in 2014 with Russia's annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of the conflict in eastern Ukraine (Donbass).
Ukraine has repeatedly stated that it is a peaceful and sovereign country defending its territorial integrity. The international community, including the United Nations, has largely condemned Russian aggression and affirmed Ukrainian sovereignty.
There is no credible evidence that Ukraine provoked or sought war with Russia. Before the war, Ukraine's primary goal was integration into European structures and economic development.
