Complications of Papilloma

Warts in medical terms are called Papillomas. Papilloma is actually a type of benign tumor on the skin, originating from the excessive thickening of the outer layer of the skin. The shape of these warts can vary. It can be big or it can be small. In general, warts are caused by a viral infection and the most common type is the human papilloma virus (HPV). The HPV virus has many serotypes with a number of more than 100. Of the 100 serotypes, only a few cause warts on parts of the body other than the genitals. Warts are caused by various strains of the human papilloma virus. Different strains can cause warts in different parts of the body. Warts can be spread from one part of the body to another, or between humans through contact with warts. The main symptom is a painless growth of flesh on the skin. The skin areas affected are usually the hands, feet, and genitals. Treatment is in the form of topical drugs and removal through medical procedures. In addition to being prone to becoming malignant tumors, papillomas that do not get proper medical treatment can also threaten health. Depending on the location, complications of papilloma can cause decreased organ function, disorders of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, cervix, etc. Types of warts themselves are distinguished by the shape and location of their appearance. Some warts are flat and some are protruding like fingers. Warts can also appear on various areas of the body such as the neck, feet, or mouth.
