What an awful experience but I'm glad you're all OK. I can't believe your landlord doesn't have smoke detectors and CO2 detectors fitted, I thought that was a legal requirement. You take care, dont stress . I'm sure your situation will improve soon :-)

Smoke detectors ARE a legal requirement but most people still don't have them installed. They think house fires are so rare and definitely won't happen to them, nor will any inspector come check their house or apartment for fire safety, but they're mostly wrong.

I'll try not to stress and will think about home safety more.

so sue the arse off the landlord and claim for smoke damaged property from the person who started the fire, hopefully he'll be insured. Not your fault, you've got a baby and you shouldn't have to suffer distress and loss because of some other muppet.
