my grandfather who was a wwII vet pointed out. the pay & hrs are horrible you're essentially on call 24x7 opportunities for advancement about on par with the private sector tho some of skills won't transfer well or at all... he said you would rightly perhaps join an army knowing that the consolation for making the ultimate saacrifice is a measure of glory in attempt to liberate the oppressed. now who wants to go kill peeps to direct & control resources in area of the world that isn't ours!
