North Korean High Officials: Pyongyang Nuclear Program Targets US Only

SEOUL - The tension on the Korean Peninsula is far from being over as US President Donald Trump's decision to include Pyongyang as a sponsor of terrorism last week. Recently, a top North Korean official said the communist state's nuclear program is not targeting any country other than the United States.

"Our nuclear threat is a sword of justice aimed at fighting the US nuclear as well as Asia and any country in the world need not worry about our threats as long as they do not join in the invasion and provocation against us," said North Korea People's Representative Assembly and director of the National Reunification Institute Jong-hyok as quoted from Sputnik, Monday (27/11/2017).

According to Ri, Pyongyang will step up its struggle against so-called nuclear war schemes and US sanctions.

"This is a stern decision by the Korean people that North Korea should face the United States only with nuclear weapons to achieve a balance of power," said Ri.

The North's top official made the remarks in his speech at the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Turkey earlier this week.

Tensions between North Korea and the United States are increasing recently, following a series of nuclear and missile tests by Pyongyang as well as hard rhetoric by Donald Trump who is targeting the country's leadership.

Last month, North Korea responded to US presidential "letters" on Twitter with a continuing threat to provide missile strikes to the Guam region in the US. The Pyongyang regime added that Trump's remarks on social media as well as US military activity in the region pushed Pyongyang closer to the trigger.

After Donald Trump's visit to South Korea earlier this month, North Korea pledged to continue developing its nuclear program during imperialism, the root of evil and injustice, abandoned on Earth.

More recently, Trump has decided to include North Korea as a sponsoring country for terrorism in a move called the North Korean state newspaper an extra-large provocation, just like any other North Korean war declaration.
