Wannacry ramsonware attack ! just finished after 80k of $$$ ???
Hackers who infected 200,000 machines have only made over 80.000 $ in bitcoin so far and continue to growing!
On Friday, a virus known as WannaCry infected machines across 150 countries. It's known as ransomware which is a malicious piece of software that encrypts a user's files then demands them pay money to unlock them. In this case, the hackers asked for $300 worth of bitcoin.
WannaCry ransomware attacks targeted and affected users in various countries across the globe by encrypting data files on infected computers. Its reach extends beyond the UK and Spain, into Russia, Taiwan, France, Japan, and dozens more countries.
In England, the National Health Service said that it is rushing to investigate and mitigate the attack, and UK news outlets reported that hospital personnel have been instructed to do things like shut down computers and larger IT network services. Other victims, like Telefonica in Spain, are taking similar precautions, telling employees to shut down infected computers while they wait for instructions about mitigation.
The WannaCry ransomware attack is the largest i’ve ever seen of its kind !! BUT..... NOW.... WE ARE SAFE ???? HOW WE CAN PROTECT FROM THIS MALWARE?
The vulnerability does not exist within Windows 10, the latest version of the software, but is present in all versions of Windows prior to that, dating back to Windows XP (the real target of Wannacry).
Users of Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.1 can easily protect themselves against the main route of infection by running Windows Update on their systems.
Users of Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 8 can defend against the ransomware by searching on google: "downalod the new pacht wannacry xp ".

P.s For those who have been infected, paying the ransom may seem a tempting way out of trouble. But experts recommend against doing so, arguing that not only does it not guarantee restoration of any files !!!
